Nelson PawWord Story
“Yo Dad,
I’m Nelson, ur pawsome son! Crazy day! Got hold of the Paws of Time. Just meant 2 chill at South Poodle Pond but darn gadget took me everywhere. Rolled eyes at Stew (dead predictable), munched on beef at Bone Appetit— top dish. Surprise pitstop at Chow Hound café, then catch-up with Grover at the gorgeous Grove. Massive strut at Happy Hounds Walk! Finally danced my muddy pawprints home. I tell ya! I’m one travel-worn pooch. Time-traveling…it’s ruff!
Wags and licks,
Nelly”
One day, slumber-bound Pawsburgh was verily set in motion, for Nelson, our dear English bulldog, had gained possession of the Paws of Time. This glorious contraption was a peculiar time-traveling device peculiar to Pawsburgh lore. It really sent the fur in the air, believe me.
Nelson’s morning – or should I say, evening – started like every other. With a quick scratch behind his ear, he pressed his button-nose to the strange contraption. To South Poodle Pond, his desired location and then, just like that, he was off!
“Hello Nelson!” greeted Stew, the pond’s resident stork, from atop Poodle Pond Pier, like he’s been expecting him.
Nelson rolled his eyes at Stew’s predictability – no adventures in time for him, it seemed. And almost as if on cue, Stew squawked – “Where to next, Nelly?”
But before he could reply, the Paws of Time gave an unexpected shudder, and he was suddenly surrounded by the inviting smells of The Bone Appetit – his favorite restaurant in Pawsburgh. He savored his usual treat of ground beef – ‘dog quality,’ of course. Only, it did seem odd that he hadn’t remembered programming this place as the second stop. He polished off his treat, waving a paw to Christine at the far end, his amiable vet who was serving some labradors.
The peculiar time-travelling device shivered once again, just as Nelson licked the last bit of treat from his wet nose. Quite abruptly, the familiar sights of Chow Hound Café greeted him, confusing Nelson quite a bit. “I didn’t order this pit stop,” muttered Nelson under his breath, the device of time seemed to have a wit of its own today.
Arriving at last at the gorgeous tranquillity of the Greyhound Grove, Nelson sighed with relief. You see, Grover, the elegant greyhound, was his best pal. Grover gazed at the paws of time with awe. “You’ve got quite a toy there, Nelson.”
“An adventure wrapped in fur and bones, my friend,” Nelson winked before the gadget whisked him to the Happy Hounds Dog Walking at Pawsburgh’s heart. He wore a look of disbelief as he landed amidst the vibrant hustle-bustle. Yet, despite the novelty, he took to his spirited promenade like a fish to water. The sight of beloved Zach, his walking companion, delighted him.
The device, seemingly tired, took him home at last, a typical ending to a rather unusual day. Tired, but pleasantly so, Nelson stepped into his final warm bath, woefully growling, “This day calls for a gentler ending, trusted friend.”
And so it was another quite unusual day in the life of Nelson, the beloved English Bulldog of Pawburgh—the adventures undoubtedly fueling the fires of storytelling at Doggie Daycare and the Spa for Paws.
The End.
