Yep, that’s where our hero Vincent calls home. I was strolling around the luxuriant landscapes of Bulldog Bay and Corgi Castle, our golden thread of a story decidedly begins here.

“Morning, Vincent,” I hailed, as the Newfoundland, with his contrasting white and black coat, lumbered over. He’s an unforgettable sight, the gentle giant of Spencerville. His size is massive, and his heart’s even bigger. His affection runs deeper than the Saint Bernards bay that fills our town with love.

With Princess Victoria by his side, they are affectionately dubbed the ‘Royal Duo’. Out here, their story is a legend – a tale of compassion and kinship that would make the pet owners proud.

A large crowd was gathering outside Pup-Peroni. Today, it was Vincent’s turn to place the order. Pupperoni Pizza, as usual. “Why not Fishy Bites today, wouldn’t that agree more with your finicky palate?” I asked, knowing full well that Vincent’s allergy limited him to fish dishes. The mighty Newfoundland only grumbled, his gaze towards the joint unwavering.

Food is no joking matter with our pal. At night, he enjoys a dental bone – his only concession to canine treats. But what is Spencerville without a dash of rebellion? Vincent’s is the spaghetti thrown across the floor, a cupboard raider in action as he gives the town its laughter.

Out of the corner of my eye, there it was. His royal highness’s most cherished possession, the treasured pickle toy filled with treats. Beside it his royal annoyance – a kit for cleaning his ears. No wonder our loyal friend looked grumpy today! I chuckled, “The forecast promised rain, too. Backyard retreat then, your highness?”

With a nuzzle, he consented. Simple pleasures do it for Vincent. An afternoon nap on his favorite couch, a lazy stroll across the town. Oh, the adventures we have! Long car rides that turn into stories, recited and re-lived over the years.
