Clovis PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, it’s Clovie! Spent the day spinning yarns, reminiscing last year’s Feast of Fetch & our glory days at Choco Chihuahua Castle. Miss you, but I’m good. Tonight’s another epic gig at Doggie Daycare with Zelda & Gilbert. Tomorrow’s another day in paradise. Keep wagging, me. Love, Clovie.”
Once in a charming corner of Spencerville, nestled between the magnificent towers of Choco Chihuahua Castle and the pristine heights of Silver Siberian Summit, lived Clovis, the charming English bulldog. A retired court jester from the Northern Choco Chihuahua Castle, he spent his days at Chow Down Chow Chow and Fishy Bites, narrating tales of his past to an eager audience.
The notorious ruffian trio of Spencerville—Gilbert, Clovis, and Zelda, cheekily known as ‘The Bulldog Bunch,’ created a furore wherever they went. Though I was but his humble human, the tales I could tell, well! They’d make the fur on any feline stand on end. But today, today was different.
Clovis sat perched on his beloved plush throne—a bone of pure white, his diligent distraction for when his stomach growled from a missed appetizer at Fetch-N-Bites. He stole knowing glances at Zelda’s tri-colored coat, a sight pleasing against the usual white winter, and Gilbert, the jester in their court of misfits, filling the air with melodious barks.
“It’s the annual Feast of Fetch today,” Gilbert reminded. “Remember when we were the top dogs at the parade last year?”
Clovis nodded, recollecting the extravaganza of noise and colors he usually avoided, an exception only for the Feast. “Yeah,” he said, a soft sigh escaping his lips, “Yeah, I remember.”
A sudden gust of wind blew through the alleyway of Tail Wagger’s Tailor nearby, rattling the windows and scattering the leaves in the quiet courtyard of Barking Boutique. The chilly air of the day was gradually replaced by the mellow warmth of a lantern-lit evening.
Weary yet excited, Clovis gazed at his siblings, a distinct sparkle lighting his eyes. He knew, for all the discomforts of his life, he was home. His fortitude showed in that moment, his spirit bearing a mettle even the underdogs admired.
They traipsed off towards the grand hall of Doggie Daycare, an air of anticipation buzzing around them. Tonight, they would laugh, play, and feast under the silver moonlight. Tomorrow, Clovis thought, he’d wake up to a quiet Spencerville morning and his beloved plush bone, heralding another day in their almost perfect world. Full of wonder, mischief, and hearty meals, with Gilbert and Zelda by his side, he stepped forth.
He missed his mom, but he was okay. “We will meet some sunny day,” Clovis vowed, as he settled for another legendary night in Spencerville, their home where love never died, just transformed.
The End.
