There I was, Vincent, the noble Newfoundland of Spencerville, in my mottled white and black coat, sprawled on the velvet comfort of Princess Victoria’s couch. Now, you should know something about me. I stand four paws tall and tip the scale at 170lb of pure, lovable dog. I don’t care much for playful frolics or chasing balls. I’m more of a “nap-on-the-couch-with-the-irresistible-pickle-toy” kinda dog.

It was just another peaceful evening, I’d just finished my delicious dental bone dinner – gourmet fish, of course. Stay with me here, I have allergies. “Vincent!” They’d exclaim, baffled by my alien taste palette.

Then it happened, something stirred in the tranquil ambiance of Spencerville. Imagine mayhem, in a town that was basically an oversized dog park, it was unthinkable. I could sense something wasn’t right in my backyard. The shadows cast from the Greyhound Grove weren’t doing their casual dance this evening.

Managing my fear of isolation and the intrusive quiet, neither rain nor deserts and definitely not some ‘farmville’ shenanigans, I geared up. Despite my size, I’m really a city dog though, I mean, I dine at Pupperoni Pizza.

Secretly thrilled, I embarked on a car ride towards the center of Spencerville. Cruising along Collie Canyon, the bad vibes amplified. Down at South Siberian Summit, wagging tails were frosty. The dogs looked like they’d misplaced their keys, figuratively speaking, barring the occasional dog who actually found amusement in keys.

The vibrations rocked the earth at Spa for Paws, not just any tremor, but one that reverberated the deceit lying beneath the town like invisible gas, every dog for himself. At Waggle n’ Wok, things were topsy turvy. Normally bustling, the place looked like a ghost town with scatterings of fur balls.

Now, I’m brave, and a tad stubborn (no arguments there). Coming face to face with my arch-nemesis, the dog-flour Storm Maker of Best in Show Photography, was not on my doggie calendar. The usually harmless prankster was agitated, his face contorted. “Spencerville isn’t what it seems!” he managed to blurt before scampering away hurriedly. His words hit me, a jigsaw puzzle clicked in place.

In the heart of psychological turmoil, embarking on an adventure that could shake up our canine paradise, I remembered my bedtime snack. I am Vincent, and I was about to unsettle the uncanny calm of Spencerville, armed with my pickle toy and knitted eyebrows. Prepare for the pawsome storm, Spencerville. It’s definitely not going to be a walk in the park!
