Hoagie PawWord Story
“Hey Dad, had quite a day. Some neighborhood trouble’s had me in detective mode again. Waffle chased Whisper, and I nearly forgot it’s the daffodil fest. Managed to sniff out some drama and ended up center stage. What a wild ride! No food though and a salon appointment waiting. Well, just another day in Pawsburgh, I suppose. Big woofs, Hoagie.”
There I was, Hoagie, an English Bulldog-turned-reluctant detective amidst the glossy lanes of Pawsburgh, my regular upright-for-a-walk stance had taken an unexpected bend towards mystery.
“Ah, Pawsburgh…” I grumbled to myself. Or rather, at my half-chewed rubber lion, Sergeant Scruffles. The sun was on a coffee break, allowing the moon to do its best impression of a spotlight above the quaint yet bustling corners of Fawn Pug Palace and North Chihuahua Castle.
My growling belly was already yearning for the scent of salmon sizzling in the pan at Ruff-n-Ready, or maybe some savory treats from The Barkery. Just the thought of citrus tickled my snout with unease – my own bulldog version of olfactory kryptonite.
While contemplating a raid on Pawsome Pancakes, I got momentarily sidetracked by The Fetching Feline Pet Emporium. “Fetch! Fetch… Not exactly my favorite command, but let’s see what they’ve stored in there,” I mumbled, half-enthusiastically. “Maybe they’ve replaced fetch with ‘eat’ or at least ‘sleep,'”.
I was further drawn out of my daydreams by a hurried scuffle across the road. In any other town, this might’ve been something ordinary. But this was Pawsburgh – our land, our rules. And the ruckus? It was my good old friend, the notoriously quick Whisper trying to outrun Waffle’s shadow. It was a spectacle that never really appealed to my compact, mighty form, yet, I wasn’t about to miss out on a soap-opera rerun.
While the chase was on, I caught my eye on the Dapper Dog Salon and it hit me: It wasn’t just any other day. It was the day of the Pawsburg daffodil festival and I was yet to prepare myself! Taking a final gulp of the crisp cool night air, the drama was unfolding with me in the reluctant lead role – No food in sight and an impending grooming session, and also, the questionable glamour of the world of organized crime.
So, that’s me, Hoagie, the English Bulldog, facing another ludicrous day in Pawsburgh’s idiosyncratic crime scene. You know, I’ve already solved today’s first mystery: Life could be a demanding director, but trust me when I say this, it could be serious fun being the lead actor!
The End.
