Franklin Sir Pugs-A-Lot PawWord Story
Hey Mom & Dad, it’s Pumpkin here. Had an eventful day taking the sunlit walk to Lower Silver Siberian Summit. Kept my fav dino toy company! Met some pals in Spencerville, you’d love them – Alley, Kingpb, Russell. Became a road-trip pug for the day, off to Upper Black Bulldog Bay. Over the moon at The Doggie Daycare, serious play session with Oscar, Ginger, Lulu. Dodged tricky situations (wet spots, apples, unasked-for ear cleanings). Longingly looked towards distant horizons before diving back into the fun. Rounded off with a yummy dinner of chicken, BK nuggets, fish & Pro Plan. Life’s a real delight even though I miss you. Being not just ‘Sir Pugs-A-Lot’ but ‘Sir Courage-A-Lot’! Love, Frank šš
I sipped on my morning coffee, hidden behind my usual perch by the window, as I watched Franklin traipse joyously down towards Lower Silver Siberian Summit. The sun artfully highlighted the little hints of gray on his face, a memory of a life spent in wagging tales and aching tales. A dash of blue caught my eye and I chuckled as I noticed his dinosaur toy dangling from his mouth.
“Straight from a Canine Couture spree, huh Franklin?” I muttered to myself, the smell of brewing coffee from Ruff-n-Ready enhancing the charm of the early morning. An eccentric little guy, I thought, his fawn coat shimmering against the backdrop of frost-tinged trees. The stately strut of a dog with quite a lot on his agenda.
In a typical Franklin-style, he ambled down the thoroughfares, taking occasional stops to playfully joust with Alley, Kingpb and Russell. It seemed like a regular day of frolicking around Spencerville, so I decided to follow him around.
“Fancy a little road trip, Franklin?” I asked, stepping out onto the cold pavement. He squinted, eyeing the car parked in the driveway. He tilted his head and with a quick flick of his tail, he scampered towards it, his prized dinosaur toy still clenched tightly in his jaws.
“Huh! Who would’ve thought, a pug that loves car-rides!” I chuckled as I hopped in, Franklin already marking his territory on the backseat.
Navigating through the cobbled lanes, we found ourselves at Upper Black Bulldog Bay. To my surprise, Franklin bounded out of the car with a newfound energy, charging headfirst towards the veritable toy mine that was The Doggie Daycare.
“Slow down, you goofball!” I called out after him, but he was already engaged in a lively play session with his troop comprising of Oscar, Ginger, and Lulu.
A dog’s joy is infectious. Grinning ear-to-ear, I watched him prance around, his rejection of wet environments causing him to give the nearby lake a wide berth. His dislike for certain foods causing uproar when Spencer the Spaniel tried to offer him a bite of her apple. An ear-cleaning by Poppy the Poodle met with unmistakable disdain. It was fascinating to see the world through his joyous yet quirky lens.
Despite the joyous bouts of frolicked and fun, his eyes often drifted off towards the horizon lines. Thereās a strange kind of hope that shone from his eyes. The kind of hope that can only stem from a longing for a home far, far away. But he always scampered back into the frenzy with a renewed energy, as if telling himself ‘all good things will come in good time until then, enjoy the ride’.
At sunset, we found ourselves at Doggy Delight for dinner. He had his usual meal, the light sprinkling of chicken, Burger-King Nuggets, fish, and Pro Plan kibble probably tasting better than any fine dining.
As we headed back home, I saw the familiar spark in Franklinās eye. Sure, it had been a long day, but it was filled with games, food, friends and laughter. Franklin seemed comfortable in his life in Spencerville. He was willing to see the world, take in all its joys and tackle each day with an irrepressible joy. To me, that made him not just Sir Pugs-A-Lot, but Sir Courage-A-Lot.
The End.
