Jethro PawWord Story
“Hey mom and dad,
This is J, or J-Dawg if you prefer. Missing you, but living big in Spencerville. I rule this crazy canine kingdom, you’d be so proud! Been out on dusty trails, even joined the Bark Angels! Chow Hound Café is my joint, got me wagging my tail at ludicrous speed. My gang’s with me, Russel, Spencer and me, we’re painting the town brindle.
Life’s not all joy rides and pizza but it’s filled with good smells, great friends and one unforgettable adventure after another. Chihuahua Castle, Fetch! Toys, hearts are warmed with our capers.
Sending you all the warmth, love and slobber droopy bulldog kisses can carry!
Woofs and wags, J”
Muscle under fur, heart under heart. That’s life in Spencerville, the haven that runs on four legs, keen instincts, and good old friendship. The brindle beast I called my best friend, Jethro the bulldog, led a life like no other. From our home in the heart of Spencerville to the farthest reaches of South Poodle Pond, he was a legend.
When he wasn’t lounging in our back yard, soaking up the sun or wishing he could chase it across the sky, he was out on the open dusty trails. His body snug against the leather saddle of a doggy-sized Harley, right ear flapping uniquely brown in the wind, the rest of him a rippling streak of white and brindle. The head of the notoriously playful “Bark Angels”, he was recognised and respected by every resident.
Our regular spot was the Chow Hound Café. The steak platter was Jethro’s pièce de résistance, but nothing warmed his heart like a side of “Puppy-Lovers’ Pizza,” delectable beyond words especially with an overload of his favourite-his love, cheese. Its melty strands mirrored his drool as his stubby tail wagged like a metronome set to allegro. The culinary masterpiece linked us to Upper Collie Canyon, where the smells of Paws on the Grill intensified our adventures.
Throughout, his band of motley dogs stuck with him, loyally ambling a trot behind. Fat Russel, the saint-like St.Bernard, Spencer the Golden Retriever and Jethro peppered Spencerville’s roads and the hearts in it with their boundless energy and camaraderie.
Of course, life wasn’t all joy rides and pizza. Much like I missed him, he yearned for our reunion. But what eased the ache was this brotherhood, this Pets of Anarchy, the sibling-like bond with Grace, Chloe, and Biggie. They rode together, shared stories, and found solace in each other’s company. They basked in the joys of Chihuahua Castle, held meetings in Fetch! Toys and Treats and even frequented the Furry Friends Art Gallery. From there, they would admire the human world they once romped, wagging their tails in anticipation of the day they’d run into our arms again.
Yes, Spencerville, a place based on memories crafted by love, was made legendary by Jethro and his crew. Together, they turned waiting into an adventure, turned passing into another kind of life, one where the last ride wasn’t really the last. Because in this town, motorcycles roared, love lived, and Jethro, the Bulldog with an unmatched spirit, was waiting for me.
The End.
