Paloma PawWord Story
Hey Mom, it’s Toots. Another epic day in Pawsburgh– followed fresh chicken scent to Waggle n’ Wok, exchanged barks with Siberian queen Mischa at The Barkery, and raced to Pet Games. Arrived late but in time for fetch, antics, and unprecedented squeaky-toy victories. True camaraderie! Last game – tug-o-war between East and West. Our pack pulled till we tumbled, boisterous laughter echoing under the first morning rooster crow. We won, East Bulldog Bay standing tall. An adrenaline-fuelled splendid day, a love toast to Pawsburgh, where every bulldog is a champ. Woof Love, Toots.
Leaning into my usual bulldog perseverance, I followed the smell of the day to Baker Street, paws padding gently on the cobblestones towards what I hoped was Waggle n’ Wok. A new day and a new game in Pawsburgh. Life couldn’t get any tastier.
I stopped dead in my tracks, a familiar whiff hitting my bulldog nostrils, and I smirked. Chicken. “East Bulldog Bay is bearing its fruits today, ladies and gentlemen,” I said, chuffing at the thought.
Gracefully sidestepping a sweeping mop, I snuck into The Barkery just in time to spot Mischa, the silver Siberian husky. Her coat glistened under the sun’s rays making her look like a queen reigning over her Silver Siberian Summit. I tipped my head in a minuscule respectful nod, she replied with a bark.
A loud chime in the distance heralded the start of the much-awaited Pet Games. I was late. I took off at full speed, leaping over brooks and bounding through Greyhound Grove, T-Rex in tow. The adventure had begun.
Upon getting to the center, I sighted my pals, Natty, Guiness, and Kahlua. Their determined faces reassured me. We were here to play and win.
“Look who finally decided to grace us with her presence.” Natty’s voice rung out clear and playful as ever. With raised eyebrows and laughter in my eyes, I lumbered over, “Well, a star always makes an entrance.”
Our games teetered between hilarious and exhilarating. There was fetch, of course, where the Labrador neighborhood always had the upper paw. But the whole city was in disarray when Guiness, a pint-sized Pomeranian, won the squeaky-toy hunt at Pup-Peroni Square, beating Bruno, the reigning German Shepherd for three years.
Victories and defeats wash away at the day’s end, what remained was camaraderie. But, tonight, there was an undercurrent of anticipation, a final game remained – a tug-of-war between the east and the west side. With clasped paws and a determination match only by our love for treats, we pulled. Paloma’s pack, pulling east and moving west. We pulled till we stumbled, laughed, and then pulled again! But when the city rooster cock-a-doodle-doo’d, East Bulldog Bay looked victorious.
Days in Pawsburgh are always eventful. Epic games, friends, food, and a whole town filled with doggy charm. As I walked back home, my heart each thump was a toast to Pawsburgh, where every dog can have his day.
The End.
