Once upon a time, in Spencerville, where all your wildest pet dreams come true and sorrow is a stranger, there lived a particularly cheerful yellow Labrador called Ace. Now, dear reader, you do know Ace, don’t you? Ah, of course, you do. Portly at 80 lbs, with a square head that was her trademark, she was a personality who loved the good life.

One fine day, Ace was lounging under the blue sky, soaking up the sun at Spotted Red Beagle Beach. The cool sand beneath her paws made her wiggle in delight. She loved the beach, it was devoid of any ear cleaning or bath sessions, the two horrors of her life. Stretching her bulky frame, she eyed a squeaky toy left behind from her last visit, before making a playful dash for it.

Edging close to the toy, she paused abruptly. Her keen senses caught a whiff something savory that came from the direction of Pup-Tastic Pizza. Ace, being a sworn carnivore, couldn’t resist. The smell was tantalizing, a siren’s call she could not ignore. With one last wistful glance at the toy, Ace trotted off – successfully charmed by her stomach’s demands.

When she reached the restaurant, she saw Caffrey, her smart and equally playful brother, already there, his eyes beaming. Caffrey loved the pizza place as much as Ace did. They bonded over their shared culinary interests, mainly peanut butter and meat. That day, they feasted on thick chunks of meat, and cheese-filled crusts, the delicious aroma of cooked meats making the dogs’ tails wag even faster.

Their misadventures around Spencerville continued as they roamed between Collie Cayon and Lower Dalmatian Desert before heading back to their warm home. Despite the joyous diversions, Ace always felt a hint of sadness knowing that she was living here without her human mum. However, the reassurance that they would be reunited, always washed away her blues.

In Spencerville, Ace led a life far removed from the humdrums of being a regular pet. She was allowed to be herself – playful, independent and stubborn. She, along with Caffrey, embraced the freedom this town offered, be it chasing squeaky toys, running on beaches, or simply gorging on delicious food that the restaurants served. And though they missed their human parents, they knew they were living the dream life in Spencerville while yearning for the day they will all be reunited in love and laughter. All in due time, as the saying goes in Spencerville.
