Hey fam, l’il potato here! Had a ruff day, looked like E.T. came to Spencerville. Made tails stop – even mine. Mass panic, then I thought, “Why not give alien a warm welcoming?” Got the crew together, picked up gifts from all our fav spots. Gave gifts to aliens, didn’t understand a single bark they made, but their eyes twinkled. Kinda like when I see ham. Things are strange now, even for Spencerville, but all’s pawsome as long as they like ham. Guess this old bulldog can learn some new tricks after all! Life’s never dull here.🐾❤️👽

“Landsakes,” I barked the moment I saw it, the thing descending from the sky, casting a shadow large enough to cover our divine Spencerville. It was a sight that could make any tail freeze mid-wag, even mine. And let me tell you, nothing ever stopped my tail.

It was all like a dream, but way too real. Looking around, I could see tails and heads alike turn towards the ominous sighting. Amidst the confusion, I could decipher Buster, that old Pug who lives in the Fawn Pug Palace, slowly chewing on his favorite bone, oblivious to our predicament. In my world, everything made perfect sense until the moment it didn’t, and this, my friend, was the pinnacle of ‘did not’.

I remember how ‘Fetch-N-Bites, The Fetching Deli, even Bark and Bites, were quickly abandoned. Everyone ran helter-skelter, as the strange, unwelcomed guest exposed its true form – an extraterrestrial being. Even amongst the panic, I did notice young Bella, of the Doggy Depot. The usually jumpy Dalmatian looked quite the sight, her spotless elegance replaced with a ghastly fear.

An idea sparked in my bulldog brain as I mulled over our possible strategies. “What if we treat the stranger as just another guest of Spencerville?” I thought aloud. The proposal caused a stir, a few dismissive snorts lined with uncertainty. But they knew me; my actions had always reflected a sense of camaraderie. It wasn’t long before they gave a hesitant nod.

Guiding my reluctant troupe, we trotted our way towards the Fetching Feline Pet Emporium – the best place to find gifts for a new ‘friend’.

With paws crossing over the thresholds of Brindle Brown Boxer Beach, Western Labradoodle Lake, and finally, our destination – The Fetching Feline Pet Emporium, our decision didn’t waver. Crews of different breeds together assembled a ‘Welcome Kit’. A ham from Bark and Bites, a set of colorful frisbees from Fetch! Toys and Treats, and finally, grooming essentials from The Doggy Depot, Bella herself paw-selecting the best for our foreign guest.

Laden with our hopeful armistice, we approached the alien visitors, cautiously optimistic. As though sensing our amicability, their stance softened. They reached out with their peculiar appendages to accept our humble offerings.

Words streamed out of them, in a language we didn’t understand. But by the soften twinkling in their – I suppose you could call them eyes – we knew we had strangely, hilariously, successfully communicated hospitality, Spencerville style. Who says you can’t teach an old English Bulldog new tricks?

Life in Spencerville was never going to be the same, but maybe, just maybe, that was okay. After all, wasn’t this town always about acceptance and love? And, if our new resident liked ham as much as I did, he was more than welcome. Ah, life! Only in Spencerville!
