Clovis PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, guess who I saw? Gilbert at Sniff n Snack. He knew about my new bone/baby! Had a chat about old times, will fill u in. PS: Zelda’s in town, beautiful but WAY out of my league. Discomfort in sequins leads to coffee talks, love is complicated. Yet, that’s Spencerville. Catch u later! -Clovie ”
I bumped into Gilbert at Sniff ‘n’ Snack, that renowned eatery down at Black Bulldog Bay. To call it a mere coincidence would be underplaying the cosmic games Spencerville seems to love.
“I heard Clovis got a new bone, a stuffed toy?” His voice filled with nostalgia for those days when we lived together.
“Ah, it’s more than a toy. It’s his baby. And you should see Clovis with it. You’d think he’s turned into a new father with unmatched adoration for his offspring,” I chuckled over a sip of my Paws-A-Latte.
Soon, we were hit by a wave of memories of good old days, when we all were together. But it’s Spencerville after all, the paradise of pets, the place where we lived our best lives.
Change is in the wind, though. You see, Zelda, the stunning tri-color bulldog who might be mistaken for a color palette generously adorned by nature’s hands, has come into town. She’s kind, vivacious, and honestly, out of my league. Being a sturdy English Bulldog, I believe evolutionary forces have trained me with a propensity to love challenges and chase the unattainable. Maybe that’s why despite all, I find myself falling for her.
Interestingly, our paths often cross at The Tail Wagger’s Tailor, where she’s become a frequent visitor. Clovis’ reluctance towards clothes has me serving as a fitting model for Zelda’s keen fashion sense. To him, clothes are just unnecessary stuff that ruins a good scratch. But Zelda, ah..she enhances herself with assertive choices, not to overpower her natural appeal but to complement it.
Okay, I admit that I scratch a bit more when draped in sequins, or those tight button-up collars. But when it leads to shared coffee at The Canine Cafe, tolerating a little itch seems a small price.
She’s fond of the spotlight; the city lights twinkling in her eyes while I, akin to Clovis, prefer the quietude of the country. She cherishes beach visits, wouldn’t mind a dive or two, while I, the little coward, turn tail at the mere sight of the pool. I dread the rain, she loves the smell of wet fur. You see, we’re as different as chalk and cheese, yet something pulls us together.
I watch her interact with Clovis after every fashion event, her soft laughter reverberating, her eyes twinkling with mischief. Even Clovis seems to have taken a liking to her, despite his aversion to others of his kind.
Perhaps I’ve found in Zelda, my antithesis and fit. A daunting risk or a fascinating attraction, who can tell? But isn’t that what makes the stories of Spencerville worth living? Sure, it leads to a few comedic twists and turns, a couple of embarrassing encounters and some absurd situations, yet it doesn’t seem to dampen my spirits.
After all, love is a sitcom where the humor lies in embracing the chaos and romance festers amid light-hearted banter, even in a heavenly place like Spencerville. Clovis would agree, wouldn’t you, old friend?
The End.
