Tanner PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, life’s bonkers here in Spencerville! Town’s alive with me, Tanner, wagging tails, bringing smiles and running a mile when the vet or a pool comes into sight. You’ll laugh, but beaches & loads of folks spook me too! Don’t get me started on Fetching Deli & that BBQ – it’s doggy heaven. Not to mention my goofy pals – hefty Russell, posh Millie, hop-happy Lilly & ol’ Mayor Spencer. It’s a mad, heart-warming world here and despite the chaos, I wouldn’t trade it for all the cheese (y’know how I am with cheese!). Loving life here, just wanted to share. xoxo, your mischievous hound, Tanner”
Listen to the story here.
Well, I suppose you could say that life in Spencerville was pretty ruff. There was never a dull moment, what with Tanner, the esteemed Pug come Rat Terrier, who managed to light up the town with his distinctive charm and peculiar traits. Picture, canine eyes that showed more meaning than most conversations, and a tail, working overtime in sweeping away the sorrows of the town—the small tail of a big-hearted dog.
Not to say Tanner was all wags and games. No, not at all. The bloke had his unique taste and pet peeves. T’was hilarious to see how he’d bolt from Boxer Beach if he ever spotted a crowd, or how he’d plant his feet firm on the ground when he smelled the dreaded vet’s office within a mile. Not to mention his other enemy, the contemptuous swimming pool. To Tanner, water was best served in a small bowl, not splashed around in a gaping hole.
Amidst all this madness, who was to deny a dog his food? The Fetching Deli and Dog-gone Good BBQ were like meccas for Tanner. But pile a plate of the gooiest cheese and watch the vision of a canine in Paradise. Heavens, the things that dog would do for cheese. His dislike for chocolate was legendary too. ‘Allergic to happiness’, we joked.
As for his company, Tanner was always surrounded by a carnival of characters. Fat Russell, the unapologetically rotund English Bulldog, who carried his weight like a badge of honor. Then there was Millie, the King Charles cavalier, the epitome of posh canine living. And sweet little Lilly, a terrier that could jump high enough to give the moon a lick, all punctuated by the grand old Spencer, the Pug mayor of Spencerville. A strange, endearing family, but a family nonetheless.
To make head or tails of the bustling canine life at the South Siberian Summit, Doggy Donuts, or The Pampered Pooch Salon, depended on how you saw it. Though firmly stuck in Tanner’s dimension, it was an experience crafted uniquely for every spectator. You see, even in the heart of a lively, madly loving town like Spencerville, with its myriad canine tales, Tanner’s story persistently stood out. It was a strange but beautiful life here, filled with furry friendships and unlikely adventures, and at the heart of it all was Tanner, mischievous, endearing Tanner. As they say, home is where the hound is. So here in Spencerville, Tanner was home.
