Paloma PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, had a wild day. Survived the sun by road trippin’ to the Toasted Tabby. Sat on garbage can at Pup-Cakes (don’t judge!), fell for sushi (no veggies, promise!) at Cat’s Meow, braved water & other doggos at Boxer Beach, feasted on Chicken Delight at Bow Wow Burger, sniffed books at Wagging Tail. Feeling like a superhero now. Catch you later, Toots.”
It was an unseasonably warm morning in Pawsburg, and as the sun hit its zenith, who should trot out and yawn but our own endearing Paloma, ready to start another rollicking day. There was adventure looming on the horizon of Paloma’s morning, and even from there, you could almost touch it.
We found ourselves at the crux of an extraordinarily crucial situation. It started when Happy Hounds Dog Walking had abruptly gone on vacation. Naturally, Paloma turned to her backyard for entertainment. But alas, it seemed as though the sun had forgotten about poor Paloma’s fondness for a cooled abode. It was then that an idea struck – a road trip!
The Toasted Tabby, sitting atop Silver Siberian Summit, was a place often raved about by the Huskies. The cool mountain air and the scenic views made it a haven for heat-escapees like Paloma. It was worth a shot, so off we went with a wagging tail and a snorting chuckle.
We reveled in the scenic vistas and crisp air of the Summit, each cloud floated like an ice cream scoop adrift in a sky-blue soda. First stop – Pup-Cakes. Paloma was probably the only canine I knew who loved to find the most unorthodox seating arrangements, so naturally, she chose to sit atop a garbage can.
Juicy Bacon Cupcake in paw, her rapt attention was diverted only by the screeching brakes of The Cat’s Meow Sushi’s delivery truck. Sushi! Now there was an idea! But, of course, avoid the vegetables. A principle, if not an unwritten law, observed religiously by all Bulldogs.
Our journey down the winding route to Brown Boxer Beach was next where, much to her horror, Paloma came across a group of fellow dogs enthusiastically dive-bombing in the temperate waters. Despite her dread of water, Paloma faced this challenge with sheer stubbornness and a little doggy paddle. The beach was an interesting place, more so because of the relentless pelting of water droplets on her fawn coat.
After such disconcerting series of events, a visit to Bow Wow Burger was the only sensible choice. There, we sat, half-soaked, amidst the laughter and the joyful ambiance. We ordered our favorite – the Classic Chicken Delight – and overlooked the beach, chomping away blissfully.
We ended the day at The Wagging Tail Bookstore, situated charmingly on Husky Hill. Paloma always fancied herself a reader, more of sniffing the books than actually reading them. After a series of intense sniffing sessions, she chose a comic book with a dog superhero on the cover. No better way to unwind from a day’s adventure than to curl up with a good book!’
A day with Paloma was pure bliss, even if somewhat absurd. She’s not just a bulldog. She’s the bulldog – the one who could embark on a trip to the moon if she thought there might be chicken there. Such is the charm of my beloved Paloma, a true Pawsburgian at heart.
The End.
