Nelson PawWord Story
“Dad, survived another day in Pawsburg. Sparred w/ Whiskers about a Bark Burger, missed our car rides. Felt bit lonely at Pug palace, so I bought a shoe toy to cheer up. Can’t wait to cause a ruckus w/ Christine tomorrow. Time for lights out! 🐾 ~ Sir Snores-a-lot”
And so, the grand story of that peculiar English Bulldog, named Nelson from a long lineage of eccentric personalities, begins. It was a comely morning in Pawsburg. Pawsburg, the town known only to pets and those insomniac humans who dolefully envied their pets’ exciting nightlife.
This particular morning found our hero in the heart of Greyhound Grove, starting early, just like all sensible dogs of Pawsburg, to begin his semi-apocalyptic day. Nelson wouldn’t subscribe to the typical dog-days. No siree. That was unbearably mundane. He preferred the thrill of unraveling mysteries of a post-hamburger-apocalyptic world, with no humans around to interrupt.
Now, if I must describe Pawsburg it is awfully canine centric, complete with its own Bow Wow Bistro and Bark Burgers. The mere thought of a Bark Burger was making our hero’s stomach rumble, but alas, adventures awaited.
Nelson was courting the dangers of the Yellow Tan Dalmatian Desert, the most peculiar change of scenery in this dog-dominated town. I mean, deserts and dogs, really? But remember the love Nelson had for varied landscapes? His blue eye twinkled with excitement while his brown eye, like a grounding force, echoed calmness.
As the merciless Dalmatian Desert sun began to rise, Nelson barked a sigh of contentment. Then, out of nowhere appeared a nefarious cat named Whiskers, known for his ability to coyly work everyone else out of their hard-earned Bark Burgers.
“Good day, Nelson,” purred Whiskers deviously.
“Whiskers! Know that your charm works not on me. As Adams once said, I’d rather be happy than dignified. Show me my dignity or show me that Bark Burger you purloined last week!”
In the midst of this encounter, our hero yearned for some car ride along the countryside. His tongue lolling out in uncontrollable anticipation for a beef-filled Kong to occupy his mouth. In Pawsburg, the dogs were their drivers, in make-believe cars, of course!
His adventure continued until darkness blanketed the sky. Later that evening, he found himself walking into East Pug Palace. Amidst Pug royalty, he felt a slight pang of vulnerability, missing his dad, the chaos of bath time, and the terrifying still of loneliness. In an attempt to distract himself, he wiggled his way into the Barking Boutique, rummaging for a playful shoe toy that could remind him of his favorite pastime – home.
With a heart full of memories, the unflappable Nelson, still loyal, still playful, concluded his adventurous day returning to Greyhound Grove, ready for his upcoming visit to Christine and the undeniable mischief that came with it.
And that’s just another day in the life of Nelson, the marvelously eccentric and lovable hero of Pawsburg, in a post-apocaylptic world only he could navigate!
The End.
