Franklin Sir Pugs-A-Lot PawWord Story
“Hey mom and dad, Had an epic day, went to Shepherd Skyline, Tan Dalmatian Desert and even Bow Wow Bistro! Met a cocker spaniel called Ginger at the spa, fell in love right away. But plot twist, she moved away to Slick Chihuahua City! Missing her tons but chat at the bark-a-thon, doing my best making distance work. Long-distance is ruff, but boy, is it worth it! ❤️ – Frankster”
What, this? Oh, it’s nothing. Just my ticket to Spencerville. It’s a surreal sort of place, a Shangri-La for the four-legged. You’ve never heard of it? Well, listen up.
I got the ticket when my pal Franklin, or as locals called him, Sir Pugs-a-Lot, trotted off to join the big dog park in the sky. Now, it ain’t just a park where dogs chase their tails, no siree. It is peculiarly humane, and almost perfect. I say “almost” ’cause perfection is such a subjective construct, don’t you think? But I digress, back to Franklin.
Franklin, that stubby little goof, had a natural charm that was as endearing as his floppy ear. You couldn’t resist his buck-toothed grin or ignore his screwball antics. No, sir! He could run all day in the Shepherd Skyline and dig through the endless sand in the Tan Dalmatian Desert. He’d even book a table for two at Bow Wow Bistro (he always invited a friend, being the sociable type). The guy had a flair for eccentric tastes–had a weakness for chicken, despised bananas and apples though. Do apples even count as food?
Now, on to the business of romance in Spencerville – it’s as poetic as it gets. The pug met her at the Spa for Paws. Lovely place. Martini glass filled with dog treats, a poodle in the corner doing canine yoga, and sitting behind the counter, Ginger.
As if it was taken out of a Woody Allen rom-com, Franklin was instantly smitten, and boy, did he move fast. You should have seen him sauntering around, flashing that lopsided smile, flaunting his rugged red dinosaur toy. Pure poetry. Ginger, this coquettish cocker spaniel, was charmed by his childlike innocence. His stubborn insistence on doing things his own way, even his crippling fear of water, made her giggle. A headstrong, independent dame meets a quirkily cute canine klutz – it was the perfect set-up for a romantic comedy. Except, well it was real – as real as Spencerville gets, anyway.
Life had a plot twist waiting, though. Ginger had to move away. Her owner was shipped off to Slick Chihuahua City, another dog haven, they said. Now, these loving souls had a long-distance thing going. Our little nightingale found kinship with everyone he knew, but his tail wagged differently for Ginger. Every dog at Corgi Castle was miserable without her.
I could see it in his puppy eyes; love was a blossoming wilderness for Franklin. He learned the very essence of long-distance love, of cherishing evenings chatting with Ginger at the bark-a-thon. Despite comedic obstacles – him barging in on an Alsatian’s evening at Kibble Cuisine thinking it was Ginger, melting into a puddle whenever a cocker spaniel passed by, he was adamant.
That’s the romantic side to Spencerville – this unwavering belief in togetherness through the dogged determination. And let me tell you, the love between a pug and a spaniel is nothing short of a symphony. But then, are we all not mirrors of Franklin in our journey of love and companionship – chaotic, unpredictable, and fiercely loyal?
So, here I am, making my way to Spencerville, feeling the pain of loss for dear old Franklin, but also a touch wistful, watching two lovebirds making the best of what they have, separated by dog heavens, but connected by, well, the potent tug of love. Spencerville, here I come.
The End.
