Finn PawWord Story
“Hey there partner, a wild day in Pawsburg! Got up early, missed breakfast together at Fetch-N-Bites. You were gone, so I went all detective-mode to sniff you out. Searches led me to Tail Wagger’s Tailor and to Best in Show! Heard you’ve been playing detective too, found your lost toy lion, eh? Love it, mate! See ya back home for another woofing adventure. 🐾 – Your Barking Bud”
As dawn unleashes its blush over Pawsburg, a toy lion, trampled and crinkled, kisses my paw. Ah, my buddy Finn’s favorite, I smirk. Finn, all energy and wit, painted more in shades of lively lilac, opposed to the usual monotone canine moods. The Yorkshire Terrier with the stubbornness of a mule and a heart as wide as Bulldog Bay.
I’m not an early riser. Neither is Finn. But the desolation, the scarcity of yelps and barks mutes the usual symphony of Pawsburg, the noise Finn and I usually try to drown in our mornings with a chicken stix breakfast at Fetch-N-Bites.
“No Finn today?” asks the Shih-Tzu waitress, balancing a tray of Pupcakes and Pooched Potatoes.
“Nah, I haven’t seen him.”
A tug in my chest prompts me to embark on an adventure a la detective. The Western Husky Hill holds no clue, nor does the Lower Dalmatian Desert. Bulldog Bay, usually crowded with friendly canines, as desolate as Finn’s emptied bed.
An exhaustive expedition was on the cards, despite my disdain for the overstimulating environment of the city. But where do I find Finn – the dog who detests water, who fears loud noises, and finds cats and kids as predictable as the plot of a cheesy dog romance? We dig, he and I, extradition of fun from the sands of monotony. But how do you dig up a missing friend?
Hours roll into the evening as Pawsburg dons the cloak of shadows. With a heavy heart and paws, I walk past Happy Hounds Dog Walking, catching a glimpse of a familiar crinkled toy lion in the window of The Tail Wagger’s Tailor.
“Finn was here this morning, wanted a tuxedo for his lion. You know how he is,” the poodle behind the counter chuckles.
My heart skips a beat as she directs me to Best in Show Photography, a new place Finn and I hadn’t explored yet – A crazy little nook for dog vanity.
And there he was, clad in a miniature detective costume with his toy lion, both immortalized in a black and white photograph.
“Finn? Oh, he’s a character!” the bloodhound photographer laughs, “Wanted a picture for a mystery he solved! You see that lion? Found it from the confines of the ignored toy bin.”
Relief washes over me like the first rain over Pawsburg, rekindling the flame of joys snuffed by loneliness. My friend, my companion, my partner in adventures – Finn. He solved the greatest mystery, after all – how to let love and humor seep through the mesh of monotony, and become a story every heart in Pawsburg craved to be a part of. And with a smirk and the familiar sight of the trampled toy lion, we return to our cozy confines, musing over yet another adventure in the chessboard of Pawsburg.
The End.
