Mister Pemberton PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, had an eventful day. Started with a stroll to Retriever River and breakfast at Chow Down Chow Chow. Hinted ‘extra quick’ to the waiter with my smooth charm. Played it cool when I saw Choco Chihuahua Castle, bumped into Hank and tried to act the grown up. Resisted the Pooch Playhouse, thinking about tailoring or cooking as a mature sideline. Ended the day contemplating life, paw in sand, at my favourite beach. Picked up chicken broth, dodged that nasty broccoli. All in all, just another day learning to be an adult-ish Pug in Pawsburg. Toodles, MR P.”
So there I was, little ole me, Mister Pemberton, or Pemmy, if you’d rather, awaking to another day in Pawsburg.
I started the day with a casual stroll down to the Retriever River. The morning rush of Pup-Tastic Pizza was intoxicating, but my heart was set on Chow Down Chow Chow; they do the best chicken that a canine could ever drool over. Arriving at my destination, the aroma of the roasting bird was enough to send shivers down my three-legged stance.
“On the double,” I said to the waiter, a Chihuahua with a bowtie, who double-timed it back to the kitchen.
Next, it was off to Northern Choco Chihuahua Castle. Now, look, I don’t have aspirations to become a prince, nor any interest in living in a castle, but it was on my route and a favorite of my friends.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar face approaching – a St. Bernard who towered over me but was mellow as a Sunday morning. “Hank! My brooding buddy,” I greeted, flailing my tiny tail in greeting.
Hank was planning to dash off to North Chihuahua Castle because, well, that’s where the cool dogs hung. Pawsburg’s version of the in-crowd. Not my scene, really. I’m more for tranquility and warmth. Quiet places over boisterous scenes, you know?
These youthful distractions, all this chasing and roughhousing… well, it just makes me yearn for maturity. I’ve even started thumbing my nose at the Pooch Playhouse. A dog’s got to grow up. Maybe it was time to turn my attention to learning the art of tailorship at The Tail Wagger’s Tailor, perhaps hone my culinary skills at The Fetching Deli, just something, you know, more… grown-up.
I nuzzled goodbye to Hank and sidled off to the beach, a place that always held my heart. I plopped down right at the edge of the world, where the sand meets the sea, my favorite squeaky dumplings in tow. There I sat, the warm embrace of the sun on my back, the lull of the waves whispering in my ears, and the soft singing of the wind through palm leaves. This, the real Pawsburg, was the essence of my world.
Later, as the sun was setting, stretching out long shadows, I made my way to Woof and Whisker Wellness Center. Not for any dreaded ear-cleaning or shots, mind you, but to pick up my daily broth supplement – chicken, of course.
As for broccoli, don’t even mention it, what a terrible thing to be green! Such an uncouth fellow of the vegetable world, if you ask me.
Day’s end found me relaxed and contemplative, looking up at the twinkling Pawsburg night sky and marking another day in becoming the true dog I am destined to be. So concluded another day for Mister Pemberton in Pawsburg. Heavy thoughts for a little three-legged pug, huh? But hey, we’ve all got to grow up sometime, right?
The End.
