Winston PawWord Story
“Morning at K9 Kebabs (maybe sans cucumbers next time?), Western Husky Hill hike filled with contemplations and goofiness. A blissful nap at Doggie Daycare. Fetch-N-Bites at 5 and a nightcap at Woofy Bakery. Almost opted for a Collie Canyon romp but home’s cozy bed won. Life is paw-some in Spencerville! -Dicki”
Another day, another round of Bulldog brilliance in the morning light. This is the life in Spencerville. In Spencerville, it really is a dog’s life – the good kind, mind you, not that miserable expression humans love to utilize when feeling particularly down in the dumps.
I am the aforementioned bulldog brilliance – Winston. My friends, Finja and Smilla, stand with me as we make our way to the K9 Kebabs for our morning grub, which apparently was favourite amongst us canines. I don’t know about that though – I mean, cucumbers do make their appearance there quite frequently, to my distaste.
We’d considered going for a dip in Labradoodle Lake afterward. Solid way to cool down, you know. But, the desert-like dryness around that area had me second-guessing this plan of action.
Instead, with belly full, a unanimous decision led us towards a hike up the Western Husky Hill – plenty of fresh air, a good wind streak, it’s almost dreamlike. Yet, as we trudge up this hill with our frisbee and tug rope, I start to wonder of the mysteries that lay beyond Spencerville – there was a whole world out there that we didn’t know of – no matter, that was a thought for another day.
Upon descending from our adventure, each of us sporting a goofy grin, we settle in for a brief rest at The Doggie Daycare. Trust me when I say, nothing beats a quick nap on a comfortable cushion after a rewarding adventure out in the open.
The afternoon has a peculiar way of flowing in Spencerville – it’s never too rushed nor too slow. Right around 5 paws (clock reading: 2 PM), Fetch-N-Bites opens up for the masses, or rather the dogs, and the rest of the day just seems to frolic along.
Concluding the day with a nightcap at The Woofy Bakery, my mates and I revel in a life well lived. Smilla insists on a brisk frolic around Upper Collie Canyon but the idea of our cozy beds at home quickly trash the adventure seeker in us.
As I paw my way back home, I can’t help but appreciate my routine in Spencerville – it’s nothing short of perfection. Now if only we can keep cucumbers off the menu.
The End.
