Maya PawWord Story
“Hey fam! Maya here, or should I say, the Queen. An epic day with Duke & Bella! Dusted Collie Canyon, wrestled a ‘monster squid’, celebrated at Pupsicle Palace (mmm, canine ice cream). Survived a dreaded bath (uugh) but was coaxed out with chicken pasta. Surveyed my kingdom from the hill, full of pride. Size doesn’t matter in Pawsburg, I rule. Woof woof, signing off from the throne! – Snowflake”
There I was, lying on the soft grass at the Golden Gate Gardens, basking in the afternoon sun, when I saw the fieriest, ball of fur barreling towards me. And I dare not move, because that ball of fur was none other than Maya, our snowy white toy poodle, the size of a stuffed animal, but a spirit as gigantic as Pawsburg itself.
Oh, Maya. Tiny terror of Pawsburg, fearless adventurer, and Beowulf in a dainty poodle body. She came bounding up the hill, Duke and Bella close behind, kicking up a cloud of dust on the trails of Collie Canyon, a spot embraced by most dogs for its picturesque sights and the thrilling escapades it promised. Her visit to the Groom Room would have to wait another day. Adventure was calling!
Her favorite rope toy clutched securely in her miniature jaws, the trio embarked on another legendary quest. This time, according to reliable sources; read Duke, there was a monster squid to be tackled at the Brindle Brown Boxer Beach. What it did out of water, I never dared question.
Post-heroic battles, her majesty would lead the group to the Pupsicle Palace for a triumphant feast. The establishment never dared deny the victorious team their spoils: berry popsicles for Bella, beef falafel for Duke and a royally sized bowl of canine ice cream for our valiant princess.
However, soon after, even our brave Maya had to combat her biggest fear…the nemesis that lurked in her human’s house—the bathtub. It always took lots of coaxing (and treats!) to get her through the dreaded B-A-T-H. But the promise of chicken-flavored pasta from Pup-Cakes, followed by a relaxing nap at Doggie Daycare, was enough to make the memory of her soapy nemesis fade.
As the sun began to set, quite contrary to her size and breed, Maya would look out over Pawsburg from atop her hill with the air of a worldly philosopher surveying her realm. In those moments, you could almost hear her thoughts, a mixture of doggie dreams and the pride of a day well spent.
That liar of a notion that ‘size matters,’ has never dared to brave the streets of Pawsburg, for we have Maya amongst us. Petite in size, colossal in spirit, and the stuff of gorgeously narrated legends—Maya truly embodies the spirit of our little corner in the world. So, whether she’s running amuck with her pals or taking a dreaded bath, remember, in the pages of Pawsburg lore, Maya will always be queen.
The End.
