Hey Mom n’ Dad, it’s your Pumpkin here. Still rockin’ in Spencerville – you know how flavorful the life of a pup can get here. Hit up the Deli as usual and gossiped up a storm with Al. Stumbled upon a real head-scratcher about two of our mates gone AWOL. Don’t worry, me and the “nose-buds” have gone detective-mode. We’re tearin’ through Spencerville, sniffin’ out clues. Bite by bite, we’re cracking this cookie. Miss ya and love ya.

One remarkable morning, the sunlight sparkling through Upper Black Bulldog Bay, I, Franklin Sir Pugs-A-Lot, found myself standing outside my favorite establishment – The Doggy Bagel Deli. Drawn by the scent of fresh bagel, undeniably an all-time favorite, I couldn’t help but think how different my journey had been.

I could almost hear the whispers of the crowd echoed against the brick walls of Happy Hounds Dog Walking. I was never the one to eavesdrop, but let me assure you, no secret gossip slip by me in this town.

“Franklin!” AL’s voice, like a thud of a drop biscuit, startled me. We frequented The Canine Cafe for a good old game of checkers, you know, to kill the Monday blues.

I turned around, my tail curling up in surprise to find OSCAR and MARTY, my old chums behind me. Long time, no smell, I chuckled as we nuzzled in greeting.

Our daily routine, if you could call anything predictable in Spencerville, included a customary stroll through Shepherd Skyline to Bullmastiff Boardwalk – avoiding the beach tiny drenching thingies scare me! – stopping by Pup-Cakes for dessert, and making our way to Wagging Tale Bookstore. You could call us the ‘nose-buds’, or as we would proudly call ourselves, dog-panions.

However, things haven’t been the same since KINGPB and RUSSELL disappeared. Spencerville was designed with the premise of joy and absolute fun; sudden departures…were unheard of. We’re content, aren’t we? Their unexplained absence triggered an itch, a curiosity that couldn’t be satiated by any number of chicken-flavored Dentastix or a playtime with my mighty dragon toy.

Today was different.

As the sun darted down the Bullmastiff Boardwalk, I initiated “Operation Woof Gone”, along with my clique. OSCAR, known for his agility, sped through the entire town, sniffing suspicious corners. LULU, and POPPY, with their astounding olfactory capabilities, sniffed out the track leading to the Black Bulldog Bay. SPENCER and GINGER were the bait- playing as innocent while prying for information from the others at Bark and Bites.

As I ventured down the back lanes of the Wagging Tail Bookstore, the suspicion was as real as the kibble in my tummy. The strong, musky scent near the restricted area gave me chills. It wasn’t fear; it was mystery echoing through the usually cheerful lanes.

A strange sense of weary excitement filled me as I laboriously trotted down the unfamiliar trail. Bit by bit, our chivalrous “nose-buds” team was unfolding a mystery of sorts that Spencerville didn’t even know it hid.

Sometimes, the eluding answers to these mysteries were as obnoxious as apples and hard biscuits, or like being left alone with an itchy ear. But soon, very soon, my friends…the mysteries of our blissful town Spencerville will be unveiled. If not…well, there’s always a good car ride and snowballs to look forward to!
