Mushu, Zinny and Winny PawWord Story
Heyya! It’s yours truly, Mushu, Zinny, & Winny!
Just checking in to say, we’ve had a busy night!
We made peace with water, saved our beloved Rover from the Poodle Pond and earned quite the street cred for our ‘Pug Pond Plunge.’
Sun’s up and so are smiles around Pawsburg.
Loving the chaos and tail wags – The Terrier Trio 😉
I must confess, having cavorted and pranced about these canine-infested landscapes for some time, I, Mushu, have stretched my riotous spirit across the width and breadth of Pawsburg. I’ve scampered along the grounds of Shih Tzu Stadium and sauntered, tail held high, through the regal arches of Chihuahua Castle. I’ve relished the most tantalizing bagels from the Doggy Bagel Deli, sniffed my way through perfectly arranged emporia like The Pawfect Training Center, and loathed the inevitable drudgery of my annual visit to the Woof and Whisker Wellness Center.
“Blast it, Mushu!” said Jack, the Siberian Husky, eye wild with a hint of friskiness. “Your aversion to water is shattering our plans to sneak into the South Poodle Pond to rescue Rover, our old Labrador mate. Spot of bother, that one, quite attached to moisture in all its viscous forms.”
I frowned, or as much as my characteristic squished face could frown, at his remark. Bella, the bubbly Beagle, who was applauding her appreciable cheeks into Pup ‘n’ Go Taco Joint’s scrumptious fare, paused mid-crunch and chimed in.
“Water or not, he’s our mate! We can’t leave him stuck midst pond-scum-scandalous riffraff at South Poodle Pond. You nancy-pug, he would’ve dived in a lava pit to save your chew-pimpled ducky!”
She had a point. No petty, sopping discomfort would deter me from our rescue mission. Rover was as much part of our motley crew as any of us, land-lovers or water-barking floaters.
And so off we trotted into the twilight, towards South Poodle Pond. Cautious as cats, we slipped unseen past Happy Hounds Dog Walking, our shadows merging with the nightfall. As we peered over the pond edges, Rover came in sight, dignified even in captivity. He was sleek, dripping, and looked thoroughly miserable amidst the rambunctious poodle crowd splashing water.
“Aha!”, I thought. I had a light bulb flicker in my mind, a chance to turn the tables right. The sight before me spelled potential chaos, a much-needed disturbance to divvy-up the water-loving captors.
“Alright, Bella, Jack”, I growled, slowly unfolding my plan, “I’ll get to that floating ball, give it a jolly good thrashing around that’ll cause a canine commotion, enough for you to snatch Rover.”
Looking at my chums, I breathed deep, filled my lungs with the night’s air, and plunged, into the water, the clawed hands of destiny tight around me.
In the end, we did save Rover, I made peace with water, and Pawsburg was left ruminating over quite a rescue performance. And as the sun dawned over Pawsburg, there was no small dog, nor big dog, who hadn’t heard of the ‘Pug Pond Plunge.’ Ah, such sweet victory! Now that’s a tale to wag a tail at.
The End.
