Roxy PawWord Story
Hey Mom, it’s Roxy Foo-Foo! Got caught up chasing holographic mice, won a tug-of-war against Sammy, and even faced my arch-nemesis – the vacuum cleaner! Spencerville’s treating me well but I’m missing your peanut butter smears and your laugh. Waving my tail every night under the Milky Way just for you! Can’t wait till we meet again, love and licks! 🐾
My day began with the familiar chime of my internal Spencerville clock – exactly a minute before the sunrise. As I stretched languidly, keenly aware of the newfound freedom in my body – no leash, no collar, nothing – I took a quiet moment to appreciate the marvel that was Spencerville.
After all, where else could you see a morning rush at ‘Paws-A-Latte’, where dogs from all breeds and sizes queue up for their morning dose of bacon-flavored lattes and an oasis of tranquility within the bustling ‘Golden Gate Gardens’ where fellow cats chase holographic mice while dogs roll indulgently on expansive scratch-and-sniff lawns.
Next, I made my way to ‘The Pampered Pooch Salon’. Mondays were ear-cleaning days. You remember how I hate ear cleaning sessions, don’t you? However, here, they had this revolutionary machine, ‘Ear-Ease – 3000.’ It did its job with a silent hum, leaving behind a cooling sensation – almost like a massage to my sensitive ears.
Swinging by ‘Pooched Potatoes’, I came across Sammy, my pesky little brother. We played our customary tug-of-war with the pull rope he had nicked from the shelter’s gigantic, never-ending toy box. Although the victorious grins of Sammy and the human-shaped veterinarian belied the truth, we all knew who the actual tug-of-war champion was – yours truly.
Evenings, my favorite time of the day, were spent sunbathing lazily at Red Beagle Beach. The ripple of the turquoise sea was punctuated by ecstatic doggy-paddles, splashes, and the soft murmur of my friends soaking in the sublime Spencerville sunset.
The colorful spectrum of the setting sun reminded me of your warm laughter, your soft smile, and a whiff of peanut butter. I could feign indifference to the ceremonious veggie platter served at ‘Chow Hound Café’, as long as there were peanut butter smears lavishly spread on wholegrain bread at the end.
Spencerville was also therapeutic in ways I couldn’t have imagined. The Best in Show Photography had this virtual reality setup which took the fright out of meeting my greatest nemeses – vacuum cleaners. Facing them in a controlled environment helped, and I no longer crouched in terror at the mention of the dreaded cleaning machine.
As night fell, tucked snuggly within our kennel, Sammy resting his fluffy tail over me, I looked up towards the Milky Way stretched out like a bone across the sky. That’s when I knew why every dog barks at the night sky – we’re just saying hello… speaking to friends on a distant but not-forgotten Earth, reassuring you that we’re alright. That we miss you, terribly, but know, deep down, that we would see you again.
Until then, we’re just living our best lives, persistently wagging our tails in the great green expanse of Spencerville, a place where every day was a perfectly unique adventure. We’re more than okay as we are merely waiting for that one day when we will be reunited. We bark goodnight and whisper, “See you soon.”
The End.
