Lucy PawWord Story
Hey fam!
Had a laughter-filled day in Pawsburg today! Strutted my curls at The Tail Wagger’s Tailor, almost replaced Mr. Bunny with a new one (still debating), and polished the art of ‘fashion burns’ with Barker. Even tackled my ultimate fear – Daisy’s lavender shampoo! End of the day, still your playful, sassy, dramatic Lucy.
Paws and Love,
Lucy the Lockbuster!
The bell above the door to The Tail Wagger’s Tailor jingled merrily as I, Lucy, walked in swathed in my usual speckled cinnamon poodle flair with Mr. Bunny tucked securely under my fur… Oops, it’s ‘seamlessly hidden’ – gotta work on my subtlety.
“Lucy, showing-off the curls again hmm?” Barker, the Bulldog’s deep growl chuckled as he draped a vintage French poodle scarf around a mannequin, its honey-dipped eyes mirroring my own.
“Always, Barker,” I said with a wag of my tail, “You know, you should try on one of these scarves, might help you score a date at the Pooched Potatoes.”
A collective ‘oooh’ swept across the store as Barker snorted, turning away. “Burn, love it,” whispered a Chihuahua from behind a rack of doggie sweaters, earning itself a hard glare from the stout Bulldog.
But all camaraderie ceased when I spotted a pink bunny plushie atop a clearance box. My paws froze on the spot. Now reference my history with Mr. Bunny, whose seams were literally clinging onto dear life. Can you feel my heart quake at the sight of the apt replacement?
“Oh, you gotta buy it girl!” Becky, the chatty Labbish – Labrador and English Mastiff mix, emerged victorious from The Groom Room with her new sparkly nails, “Two bunnies, double the fun and double the chicken!”
“Ah, the chicken” I said, my mouth salivating at the mere mention of the tender, juicy delicacy. And yet, there I was, caught in a dilemma. Mr. Bunny or Mrs. Chicken? My tail wagged at their equal appeal. To comfort or to taste, each offering a different adventure that no stroll in Pawsburg Central Park or dive in East Bulldog Bay could provide.
Just as I was about to give in to my innate poodle curiosity and pluck up the new bunny, the bell chimed again and in walked, wait for it, my worst nightmare- the lavender shampoo bearing summer Golden Retriever, Daisy. Suddenly, I was back under the bed, shaking at the memory of the gleaming faucet, the dread of feeling water against my soft curls, the soap scouring off my natural scent.
I barked a hasty goodbye, ignoring Barker’s confused look and Becky’s inviting bark to join her at Chow Hound Café. My curiosity squashed, my desire for chicken forgotten, because sometimes, dear reader, the fun, cheerful Lucy turns tail and runs.
Hello, drama! Is Mindy Kaling scripting my life here? Either ways, welcome to a day in my Pawsburg existence, a cocktail of fashion burns, playdate dilemmas, and terrified exits. Cheers!
The End.
