Lilly PawWord Story
“Hey Ma, it’s Lily Bug! Just your daily update: Discovered some fascinating howling tools today, ruled over Spencerville, chased some RC cars, and survived yet another canine food incident at Bone Appetit Kitchen! Can’t wait to see you but till then, I’ll keep the home fires burning! Love & slurps, Lilly 🐾”
The story goes like this. In the heart of Spencerville, across the glistening waves of Golden Retriever River and just up the road from the cozy Doggy Depot, rests the abode of Lilly, the reigning queen of our household. A stout English Bulldog with fawn and white markings and a peculiar disposition.
The break of dawn brings the opening act of Lilly’s reign. As daybreak spills over the sprawling Lower Dalmatian Desert, she is roused by confounding sounds chuckling from the adjacent Howling Husky Hardware Store. Power drills it must be, like the ones back home. Instead of fear, a strange fascination stirs within her. The intrigue sends her scrambling out of her regal bed, her wiggling pudgy body stumbling out the door.
At the Fishy Bites, I exchange morning pleasantries with the waitstaff while Lilly indulges the occasional cheese puff bribe small kids toss in her direction. Ah yes, the reigning queen loves her plebeians!
Her days in Spencerville roll by, punctuated with her unusual fascinations. Tugging along her worn-out opossum doll, she chases remote control cars around East Pug Palace’s spacious grounds till her sides heave and her tail is all but a furious blur of movement. It’s playfulness crowning her with an agreeable air.
As the town clocks toll the noon hour, the aroma of cuisine wafts from the Bone Appetit Kitchen hitting Lilly’s sensitive nose. Her royal canine highness is immediately drawn towards it, tail wagging in anticipation. But alas, it’s a ruse! One sniff at the dog food and Lilly recoils. Perhaps someday she will come to make peace with this unfortunate canine necessity.
In the evenings, Lilly basks by the city pool, the sun bathing her fawn and white fur. The twilight sun casts regal shadows behind her as she gazes at the setting sun while lazing on her royal float. When the sun dips below the horizon and the moon started its reign, our queen is once again found poised outside Bow Wow Bistro as the air fills with anticipation and the city begins its grand transformation.
The drama unfolds as Lilly, although surrounded by fellow Spencervillers, prefers her solitary rule. Despite her royal status, she clings to the familiarity of our bond, patiently waiting with unwavering loyalty. The reunion is her constant dream, the anchor that tethers her to me.
Despite its oddities and peculiarities, this is our tale; a tale of a peculiar English Bulldog named Lilly. A tale spun within the tranquility of Spencerville, the cradle of stories, of waiting, of healing. This is a tale of the reign of a royal pet, a tale that never truly ends. For now, as we navigate the whirling currents of day to day life, we hold fast to the hope of one day reuniting and in the meantime, Lilly’s spirit keeps the home fires burning.
The End.
