Every dog has his day and Rooney, well Rooney has a field day in Pawsburg every moonlit night. Just as the hands of the clock align harmoniously at twelve, Rooney steals a bold glance at his sleeping human friends and creeps towards the Space-Time Doggy Door that ferries him into the canine Eden, Pawsburg.

The first stop? The Southern Golden Retriever River, where Rooney’s Golden Retriever inheritance makes itself known. He plunges into the gleaming waters, his heart throbbing to the beat of a drum only he hears. The frivolities notwithstanding, he’s quick to retrieve his favorite ball from the swirling current – his Collie intellect wouldn’t want the plaything lost to water and whimsy.

After an adventurous river frolic, his paws draw him naturally to The Doggy Bagel Deli for a post-swim munch. However, his eyes glaze over at the sight of a Chapati and Chicken Special. He has to pass, clearly his palate’s been tricked one-too-many times. Instead, his adventurous heart picks out the most eccentric delicacy on the menu. It’s a mystery wrapped up in a delicious bagel; layered like his favored cylindrical toy, his culinary experiment begins.

Onward to the Fawn Pug palace, where his mates from the city gather for their escapades. Hank, with his golden, fetching looks, Jazzy and Megha, swooning over every tale Rooney had to tell about the city, and Bart, his protective shadow, just in case any palace folk have different plans. Their camaraderie knows no bounds. Tonight, they decide to ransack the Black Bulldog Bay, conspiring a mission to replace the stern Bulldog flag with a delightful assortment of squeaky bone toys. A wild plan, if the execution goes awry, that could potentially land them all in the Dog House.

But the Comedy of Errors at the Black Bulldog Bay dramatically unfolds. Just as Rooney – with a paw on the ropes, and a heart full of mischief – prepares to hoist up the toy flag, a colossal canine shadow creeps upon them, shrouding the golden doodle with fear. Rooney quickly turns around and, bam! Comes snout-to-snout with the mother of all misunderstandings – a giant vacuum cleaner!

Now, in Pawsburg, this is the equivalent of finding a shark in your bathtub. Fears flare up, sending our daring tricksters into a mad footrace across Pawsburg. Rooney, Bart, Megha, Jazzy and Hank dash through The Wagging Tail Bookstore, causing an explosion of books, through The Barkery, spilling delicacies left and right, and finally into Fetch-N-Bites where they crash into none other than the feared Bulldog himself enjoying a peaceful supper.

The Bulldog gives Rooney a gigantic glaring scowl. He gulps. They gulped. Rooney, usually so quick, knew not what to say. Then surprisingly, the Bulldog bursts into laughter, filling the harsh Pawsburg air with joviality. Holding his hearty laugh, he lets Rooney and his crew off the hook with a smirk on his face, having thoroughly enjoyed the comedy of errors.

Rooney, catching his breath, mutters under his breath, “Only in Pawsburg,”. A fact only reinforced by the sight of the vacuum cleaner now standing as a monument outside the Fawn Pug Palace, forever reminding the town of the funniest night in Pawsburg. And, with each night that followed, Rooney’s tails, err…tales only become more exciting!
