I got my daily haunt at The Woofy Bakery, sing-offs at Choco Chihuahua Castle, hilarious playdates with Penny, Alfie, Jinnie, Syd, Luna, and of course, my bro Shortsie! Splashing around at East Bulldog Bay or simply hanging out with my best pals Rainbow and Sebastian – it’s a dog’s life! Toast of the town or playful prankster, either way, Pawsburg loves ol’ Marlin! So, there we were, Marlin and me, in the heart of Pawsburg, hidden amongst this dog-eat-dog world ─ who am I kidding, it’s a peanut butter and bacon paradise! Now let me tell you about my chum Marlin, he’s got a heart of gold…ador ─ a Goldador, get it? Oh well, I thought it was clever.

Marlin, a hulk of fur and good-nature, was often found with his snout buried deep in a kong full of his favorite kind of drool-worthy creamy deliciousness – you guessed it, peanut butter. He was, shall we say, somewhat skittish around water and the specter of his own echo, but admittedly, who wouldn’t be?

Our day started at The Woofy Bakery. Marlin would never break his tradition of a cheese and bacon muffin. I mean, a dog’s got standards, no lettuce or tomato for him, yet, one whiff of a yeast-produced dairy product and the guy’s a goner ─ little wonder they never let us dogs near Swiss cheese factories.

Then, we took a leisure stroll through East Pug Palace grounds towards the Choco Chihuahua Castle where we were scheduled for a singing contest. The thought of evenings at Fur Tacos, delicious protein rolls at The Cat’s Meow Sushi, and quick grab-and-gals at the Pup ‘n’ Go Taco Joint sure had Marlin breaking out in excited, almost musical barks.

Marlin’s playtime with Penny Lane was a sight straight out of a folly comedy. Their camaraderie was like two jesters in a court, circling around each other, prancing and frolicking adorably. His other amigos from the block included a bunch of lovable terriers Alfie and Jinnie, staffy Syd and Luna ─ one ball of boundless energy!

But oh, let me tell you about Shorts! Old Shormtsie Bormtsie Puddin Pormtsie, he and our Marlin had a sort of bromance going on. What a duo they made, pulling tails and chasing tails, a tale as old as time. And by the reign of Fur-Queen Fifi LaPoodle the Third, peas-loving Pogue and his adventures were the best companions for Marlin’s timid nature.

No trip to Pawsburg is complete without a romp on the beach. Neither East Bulldog Bay nor the park could escape his scrutiny. Running helter-skelter, chasing seagulls, hollering at his own shadow – Marlin was a sight to behold, an impressionist painting in motion. Not many knew about Marlin’s penchant for the unusual – like his unicorn toy Rainbow and Sebastian, the undefined creature, but he had a way of making everything seem so much more whimsical and colorful just by being around.

But as the day ends and the city of Pawsburg slips back into the whimsy of dreams, we return to where we began, nose deep in delightful plates from Pup ‘n’ Go. Marlin remains the gentle giant we adore mixing regal majesty with a dash of jovial hilarity. In another life, he might have been a king, but here, in Pawsburg, Marlin was, indeed, The Crowned Pet.
