Dachshund’s Delight: A Catastrophic Tale of Canine Courage: A Jackson PawWord Story
Hey Partner,
I, Jackson a.k.a. the Weiner Wonder of Pawsburg, saved Bella by navigating through an underground tunnel during an earthquake. PS: The rooster got left behind. Quite an adventure, huh? I got wags for days.

In the heart of Pawsburg, where Canine Couture outfitted the chic, and The Cat’s Meow Sushi reimagined an old feline nemesis, was born another day. Paws skittered along the cobblestones vibrating with mid-morning hustle. I, Jackson, that mischievous ebony Dachshund, found myself bareling through, my old squeaky rooster clutched between my teeth.
“No better day,” I drawled to myself, “to change this goody-four-paws image of mine.”
With a quick scan of the horizon, I darted towards Husky Hill, a timberland incline that offered hideaways for rascals like me. Alongside me, Rex, ol’ German Shepherd who’d hung up his police badge, loped along with a rueful chuckle.
“Jackson, that rooster’s gonna get you in more troubles than speakin’ the truth at a city council meetin’.”
Ignoring him, I thrust the rooster into Bella, the Chihuahua’s waiting paws and catapulted into the underbrush.
Suddenly, the world reel, trees swaying like drunken sailors. It was an earthquake. Panic shredded the air, sharp and red. I saw Bella’s chocolate eyes widen as the ground beneath her gave way.
“Jackson,” Rex yelled. “Get your wet nose out of that hole. We need brawn, not boneheadedness!”
Instinctively, I raced towards Bella, but the ground between us had split. Then, I remembered, Collie Cannon, a hidden network of underground tunnels. My penchant for water had made me a master spelunker.
“Don’t you touch that doggy dreadnought of disaster,” Rex growled, referencing my precious rooster toy.
With difficulty, I shook my head, “Not this time, Rex.” I plunged downward into the winding caverns, carrying with me a hope as I navigated the damp abyss.
Sinew and will pushed me forward until daylight seeped into my vision. I popped out on the other side, the chasm, a wide and eager maw behind me. I licked Bella’s face as she whined in relief.
As we climbed up to safe ground, we could see the town slowly pulling itself together. There, amidst the chaos, the shaken not stirred face of Rex glared at me.
That day, Pawsburg realized that every dog has his day, and I, Jackson, the Dachshund of Pawsburg, had mine. And the rooster? Well, it’s hold over me had lessened somewhat. I could almost hear it squeak in disappointment. I winked at Rex, my twinkling eyes shimmering with fresh disaster. God, I do love a good catastrophe!
The End.
