I reckon I don’t need to tell you about Joey, do I? No, sir. See, ol’ Joey, he’s just about the finest German Shepherd that you’d ever lay your eyes on, with eyebrows that’ll twitch at the mere rustling of a leaf and a coat that’d make even the finest painter red with envy. Yes, sir. But that Joey, oh, he’s much more than just a good-looking snout – he’s a ball of fire when it comes to that squeaky green alien he loves, and when it breathes its last squeak? Well, I reckon he’ll rip apart heaven and earth to find another.

Now picture this, if you will, Joey, prancing about the Golden Retriever River, sun-burning the day away. Grams of the Dog-gone Good BBQ has got some grilled chicken cooked up real nice, enough to make any dog lose his mind. But Joey, he’s got self-control, never one to pounce at food, always waits his turn. Of course, unless it’s them darn green beans.

Now Pawsburg ain’t just a town, no sir. It’s the heart and soul of every dog, far and wide. But for Joey, it’s a playground filled with never-ending adventures and companionship. He loves being in the Golden Gate Gardens the most and there ain’t a tree in that park which hasn’t had the privilege of being marked by Joey.

It wasn’t long before the folks at Pawsitively Purrfect Pet Store began hearing about Joey and his gang of pet pals. Lulu, the feisty Boston terrier, was his gal, and even though some of the other pooches tried to sway her away, Lulu only had eyes for Joey. Theirs is a love story that even the moon and stars delight in watching.

One fine day, the bell rang at the Doggie Daycare, signaling the commencement of the Pet School Musical. Now, Joey, being a fine, cultured canine, always fancied himself the leader of a band, with Lulu singing, him banging on the drum, and their pals playing the rest.

They hadn’t less than a week to prove themselves when the day of the auditions came. While the opposition included a snooty poodle and her entourage, Joey and his band had only one motto – to have fun. The day arrived, and as the curtains lifted, Joey led his band with such zeal and verve that it wasn’t just a musical spectacle; it was pure magic. Needless to say, they won. Why, it’s like they say in Pawsburg – “In the end, it ain’t about winning or losing, it’s about living the dream.”

I daresay, a storybook ending was only to be expected when the hero of our story is a charismatic Alabama Shepherd like Joey, wouldn’t you think? I tell ya, life in our little Pawsburg keeps getting more vivid, with loyal, vibrant souls like Joey around.
