Tales from Pawsburg: Lemon Squirts, Frisbee Flips, and Canine Cuisine: A Colby PawWord Story
Hey, it’s Colby! Life in Pawsburg is always a tail-wagging adventure, filled with aromatic BBQ, frisbee antics, races with Atlas, and the odd citrusy surprise! Here’s the deal, though – bring me some BBQ chicken when you’re in town and let’s pretend lemons don’t exist. Chat soon, woof!
So there I am, the black Lab around town, tail wagging down Sapphire Schnauzer Street like a frenetic metronome. You know, I’m Colby, everybody’s best friend with that glossed-up coat, those oh-so-charming black eyes.
Zipped right past Paw Pad Thai. Man, how the sweet and spicy tangs make my mouth water, but the heart wants what it wants, right? Only the smoky, charred aroma of BBQ chicken can make me drool like a Saint Bernard at a water cooler. Got those from Paul, the jolly hot-dog guy down at Madison Park.
Decided to do some shopping before hitting up the park. Needed the latest volume of “How to Catch Red Frisbees Without Landing Facedown”, you know, for amateur’s sake. Found it neatly stacked at The Wagging Tail Bookstore.
Ready to show off my newest acrobatics, trotted with my favorite red bright Frisbee through Spitz Spire. Nearby, Doberman Dunes was where curly-tailed Sassy was sunbathing. Yes, Sassy, the Persian cat who thought she could outwit me. Such a hoot!
Was about to chuck the Frisbee when I saw it – a neon green lemon – right in front of me. You know that moment in ‘Stranger Things’, when Eleven first encounters the Demogorgon? Much the same vibe, without the potential for, you know, death by a multidimensional monster. lemons, man, my only nemesis in this close-to-perfect town. They’re sour, acid squirts into your eyes, and they look too much like tennis balls. What’s not to hate?
Suddenly, I felt a paw nudging me. Atlas, the Boxer who could make a squirrel look lethargic. “Race you to Canine’s Cuisine”, he barked. That got me rolling. Not the sight of my nemesis. Not today.
We sped through Sapphire Schnauzer Street – two streaks of fur and old-doggy-breath. Atlas nudged me into Pampered Pooch Salon on our way. They had the audacity to squirt some citrus perfume at me. More lemons! What’s with this town’s obsession? I bolted out, shaking off the stench.
The sprint continued. Passed by Best in Show Photography’s window, catching a reflection of me and Atlas. We looked like one of those ‘after coffee rush-hour’ scenes. We’re just dogs having fun – literally, no pun intended.
We skidded into Canine’s Cuisine. The startled Bull Terrier waitress quickly served us the special – Paella. We wolf it down, sighing with contentment. Who knew Pup’s Paella could taste so good after a lemon-filled day?
By the time I returned, Madison Park was quieter. Lying on my back, I filled my nostrils with the lingering aroma of smoky BBQ chicken. Life’s good, you know. Forget about strange neon-green lemons, hurried races, and the spray of unwanted citrus. Pawsburg is home, and a little weirdness only makes it more fun.
Oh, don’t forget to join me at the park someday. You might want to bring some BBQ chicken, though – and not any lemons. Actually, keep those juicy treacheries away from me. Forever. Alright then, see you around folks, catch you at the next doggy shenanigans. Till then, stick to the right scent and the right book.
The End.
