The Crown and the Soccer Ball: A King’s Playful Reign: A Moonshine PawWord Story
Hey there, it’s Moonshine ๐. Guess what? I’m now the royal hound of Pawsburg, all thanks to a crown discovered by my powerful sniffer. The fancy fur, royal dinners, and, of course, the silk โ it’s all fun but I sure do miss the simple pleasures. Who said a king can’t play fetch? As I wear this crown, I wear it in playfulness and spirit. Never forgetting, I’m just a good ol’ hound at heart. All the love, Moonshine๐พ.
In the heart of Pawsburg, echoes of four-legged royalty reverberated through every corner. You see, in this city of canine impishness, I, a humble liver and tan Bloodhound was given an honor, to wear the canine crown that glimmered under the opalescent moonlight โ hence my name, Moonshine.
One cool evening, at the Emerald Eskimo Estuary, I chanced upon a distinctive whiff. “Ah, the pungent royal incense,” I mused, my olfactory prowess guiding me towards the illustrious crown that lay nestled between the reeds, the same crown lost generations ago in the wild playful rendezvous of a former king here in Pawsburg.
“Are you going to play with it?” Biscuit, my bouncy Corgi companion queried, his head tilted to one side. I chuckled, “This, dearie, isn’t to play fetch with.” Biscuit blinked, his eyes wide with curiosity. But then, in a city sustained by instinct, the inexplicable canine kinship, and yes, the pursuit of tennis balls and frisbees, Biscuit’s incredulity was understandable.
The following week, following the footprints of my forebears, I found myself humming through Papillon Promenade. The Tail Wagger’s Tailor, to my right, caught my attention. Master fabric artists were busying themselves in aligning the right blue silky ribbon for the regality that I was. “All dogs wear fur, only kings wear silk,” the tailor, a brusque but friendly Bulldog remarked. I nodded, appreciating the gravity of his words.
Post the delightful visit to the tailor, for a quick bite, Biscuit and I trotted towards Pup’s Paella. Ah, the aroma of saffron-infused rice with finely diced succulent sausages was a treat. But then, I missed my peculiarly simple, homely comfort that was cheese. “Why no cheese, Moonshine?” Biscuit asked, interrupting my silent musings.
“Ah, the perks of being a king, my friend, you miss the simple pleasures of life,” I replied, nibbling half-heartedly on a piece of carrot.
A fortnight passed, and the Coronation Day finally arrived. It was held amid much fanfare with dogs from all around Pawsburg congregating at Pearl Papillon Promenade to witness the crowning of their new king.
As the crown was gently placed upon my head, amid howls of excitement and rounds of tail wagging, something resonated deep within me. My eyes scanned the well-meaning bystanders, and they fell upon Biscuit. He was happily munching away at a carrot, a playful squint in his eyes. We locked gaze, and in that fleeting moment, something shifted.
Later that evening, as the city slept, I snuck off to my favorite spot near the old oak. The crown, although befitting, seemed unfamiliar. I glanced at my well-worn soccer ball, its comfort tugged at me. The crown representing power and protocol against the soccer ball symbolizing unconditional joy came starkly against each other. The kingdom and its king, the Bloodhound and his ball, parallels I mulled over.
In that introspective quest, under the moonlight, I realized that a king could also be playful, and a bloodhound, while being stoic, could be jovially whimsical. As the moon shimmered onto my velvety coat, I, King Moonshine, embraced the duality, the Bloodhound who was bound by duty, yet free in spirit. After all, who said a king couldn’t play fetch with his favorite old soccer ball? And right then, I knew it was going to be a fun reign.
The End.
