Marley Jaxon and the Wild West Wag-n-Doodle Adventure: A Marley Jaxon PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
Just wanted you to know, I’ve become quite the tail-waggin’ hero here in Spencerville! Led my furry pals across canyons and through Westie Woods, aiming to be legends! Bravery’s my middle name, and adventures are our game. Don’t worry, I’m being careful. Will be home before the kibble gets cold!
Luv, Marley J. đžâ¨
I always considered the sunrise in Spencerville something of a miracleâa cascade of golden light over the rolling hills, painting the Western Fawn Pug Palace with hues as warm as the belly rubs from my dear human mom. Now, let me tell ya, the morning that Autumn, EllaRee, and I set off for a rootin’ tootin’ adventure through the White Westie Woods, that sunrise was a prelude to something extraordinary.
The day kicked off with our customary romp to Ruff-n-Ready, Spencerville’s finest waterin’ hole for the four-legged folk. It’s got more flavors of kibble than stars in the night sky. But for me, itâs the whipped cream that really gets my tail wagginâ. After lickin’ our bowls clean, we moseyed on down to the general store, picking up some supplies for the trek and a Norwex dusting glove. That glove and I, we go way back; it’s a trusty sidekick on my jaunts, see.
Our journey was no mere walk in the park. It was said there was an untamed land past those woods, a place where pet legends were made and sometimes unmade. And it was there we headed, Autumn’s spirit as fiery as her amber coat, EllaRee’s curls bouncing with each intrepid step. Me? I was the ringleader, the map reader, the keeper of adventures.
The White Westie Woods were just the start, dappled light playin’ tricks on our pathway, and strange rustlin’ sounds testing our mettle. EllaRee didn’t much care for those sounds, stuck to my flank like burrs on a blanket. But thatâs what friends do, we stick together when the goin’ gets rough.
“Reckon there’s squirrels big as horses out here,” EllaRee whispered, her round poodle eyes wider than the full moonâs.
“Nonsense, they’re just tales,” Autumn chirped, though her voice held a note of uncertainly. That’s when we stumbled upon our first obstacleâa grand canyon no map in Spencerville could’ve prepared us for. Now, beinâ none too fond of large water bodies or ominous gaps in the earth, I felt a certain kind of way about it.
“We could turn back,” EllaRee suggested, her voice quaverin’ like autumn leaves in the wind.
“Turn back? And miss out on becomin’ legends of the Wild West side of Spencerville?” Autumn scoffed.
I eyed the canyon, heart hammerin’ in my small chest. But the thing about havin’ a heart of a lion trapped in the body of a Yorkie-Cocker mix is that it doesn’t know the meanin’ of fear, only adventure. So, I mustered up the bravest bark I could.
“We cross,” I declared, my decision settin’ our path straight as an arrow.
Took us the better part of the mornin’, but cross we did. With some ingenuityâropes made of intertwined dandelion stalks, the occasional boost for the less vertically-endowed among us (namely, me and EllaRee)âwe did it. Didn’t look down once, though there was that one time I reckon my heart skipped a beat when Autumn nearly slipped. But the stories don’t mention that, no, they just tell of how Marley Jaxon and his gang braved the canyon.
After bestin’ the divide, we trekked through landscapes I could scarce believe existed. Hills rolled like waves, and flowers bloomed bigger than the Dapper Dog Salon’s finest blowouts. As the sun began to dip low, paintin’ the sky with purples and pinks like one of those fancy pieces from The Furry Friends Art Gallery, we knew we had spun ourselves a fine tale. A tale folks would wag about. A Western adventure full of grit, dust… and a healthy dollop of whipped cream.
Stay tuned, now, ’cause the adventures of Marley, Autumn, and EllaRee ain’t done; not by a whisker.
The End.
