Funny thing about Pawsburg, every yawn and tail wag tells a story. And revenge? Well, it’s more about setting the world right, isn’t it? Not that I’m likening myself to a hero—one part cynic, one part scrapper—but if the collar fits…

The clink of my paw-nails on the cobblestone echoes as a prologue to what I’d reckon as an epoch tale. Oh, sure, your bars have bouncers and your parks have rangers, but here in Pawsburg? It’s the good dogs that keep the order. And yours truly? I’m Whisky, a Boston Terrier with a penchant for sniffing out the truth beneath layers of deception and apparently, a taste for drama.

It was an ordinary Tuesday, or as ordinary as one could get, with the sun lazing over Briard Bridge casting dappled shadows on my brindled coat, when I overheard something that strummed my whiskers the wrong way. “Whisky,” Corgi drawled, his chef’s hat askew, “you’re a rascal with a cause.”

“But the best at it,” Tofu chimed, his voice soft as a tuft of freshly shed winter coat.
