Dear beloved human,

I think it’s time you knew about my Yuletide escapades. As the festive day approached, whispers of Christmas magic threaded through the alleys and under the doors, even reaching us four-legged wanderers. Pawsburgh, that mystical place we dash to with tails wagging and hearts thumping, was steeped in holiday glee. So, let me spill the kibble on the Twelve Dogs of Christmas, Pawsburgh style.

Day one, as always, dawned with my stealthy retreat from our cozy abode. Just like in those holiday rom-coms you can’t stop watching, Sam—I know your secret watching habits! The first surprise was awaiting in Topaz Terrier Town, a place just posh enough to make you feel like you’re better than everyone else but not snooty, like that cat, Mr. Fluffikins next door.

The Terriers had set up a mistletoe kissing booth. I know, I know, I’m not one for sloppy displays of affection, but when Buddy, the Golden oldie with a penchant for vintage collars, stood beneath it, I couldn’t resist. We exchanged a polite peck, tails swishing like metronomes at a holiday concert.

Day two had me at Chestnut Cocker Courtyard. We played Secret Santa. I got Ellie a harmonica, because her howls needed some musical accompaniment, and let’s face it, girlfriend could use a little pitch correction.

By day three, I found myself at Poodle’s Pasta, twirling spaghetti like that scene from your favorite animated dog romance. Chef Poodle went all out for the holidays, replacing our usual leashes with strings of garland. You should have seen us, human. We looked so festive we could’ve been doggy decorations.

Sniffer’s Sandwiches was day four’s delight. Sandwiches as big as your face, Sam, and you know I never exaggerate. A secret blend of holiday spices had even Whiskers acting less snooty and more snoot-in-the-air at the intoxicating smells.

Fast forward to day seven, because let’s be honest, those intermediate days were a blur of bones and tinsel. The Barking Boutique unveiled canine Christmas costumes. Imagine me, a sleek pit bull, draped in a Santa outfit. Fab-u-lous. But I ditched the beard because, let’s face it, it clashed with my monochrome aesthetics.

The Howling Husky Hardware Store, on day nine, offered up DIY decoration kits. Of course, my paws are more suited to pawing at doors than painting ornaments, but it’s the thought that counts.

And finally, day twelve, that’s when it all went down, human-style. Everyone from Pawsburgh joined in for a colossal Christmas singalong and feast. There were meaty bones, a roasted chicken parade (sans citrus, naturally), and a toast to friendships, both old and furry. We parted with doggie bags and dreams of next year’s festivities.

So, Sam, maybe somewhere between the unwrapping of presents and the fifth loop of that playlist you adore (yeah, I’ve noticed), spare a thought for this tale, a memoir of my twelve days in the holly-jolly haven of Pawsburgh.
