I, Nezuko the Blue Merle Boston Pug Dachshund mix, had plans bigger than my long dachshund ears could hear. Each night for twelve nights, I had vowed to concoct a surprise to sprinkle extra cheer among my four-legged friends, with festivities starting at Kelpie Keys and spreading like wildfire to Shiba Inlet and all the way through Newfoundland Nook.

On the first night, with the moon hanging like a silver biscuit in the sky, I crafted a constellation of chew toys, weaving them into the willows at Kelpie Keys. The next morn, as pups came trotting, their amazement bubbled over like a cauldron of excitement at a witch’s Sabbath. “Look at this!” Baxter the Beagle shouted, “A starry banquet!”

Night two unfolded with a buffet at Bark Buffet – think of a smorgasbord, but every dish was a twist on my beloved peanut butter. Plates of peanutty entrées lined the tables, and I hid underneath, feeling my heart leap with every “ooh” and “ahh.” “Is this peanut butter pot roast?” Pepper the Poodle asked, her voice rising like the overture of my favorite opera.
