Pawsburgh: A Tail-Wagging Adventure of Frisbees, Hotcakes, and Sparkly Collar Shenanigans: A Leisel PawWord Story
Hey human, it’s your ambling assistant Liesey! Dodged another one of your magic acts & snuffed out some fun in Pawsburgh. Turned down a sparkly collar (you’re welcome), chewed the fat with the old timers about big dog dreams & realized our quirky life’s part of the grand act. Always your curtain-closing, tail-wagging partner in crime. Heading home for cuddles & dreams of tomorrow’s capers. 🐾 Liesey
Hey, it’s me, Leisel – you know, the one with the golden brown fur that looks like it’s been kissed by the sun a smidge on the generous side? Yep, that’s the one. Today, I felt the call of the wild, or at least the call of Pawsburgh, the place where every dog can sniff out adventure like a hidden bone in the backyard.
The day began just as any other, with me sneakily slipping out while my human tried to pull a rabbit out of a hat—literally, it’s part of his shtick. So cliché, I know, but I can appreciate the flair. Anyhow, I trotted off to Pawsburgh, a town that’s a Terrier’s turn from mundane and a Poodle’s prance from peculiar.
My first stop? Blue Basenji Bay. I love that place – it’s got frisbees aplenty and a waterfront view that could make a Bulldog weep. Caught a frisbee or ten, showing the rookies how it’s done. You’ve got to jump as if that disk is carrying all your dreams. Hold on, I’m not being meta, just stating facts.
After the usual display of athletic wizardry, it was off to Terrier Town for some grub. Poodle’s Pasta was tempting, and Rottweiler’s Ribs made my stomach do a little jig. But chickening out (pun absolutely intended) of those, I ultimately went for Husky’s Hotcakes – a place that understands the culinary nuances of a downright delicious chicken topping.
I settled on a spot and got to the business of devouring my meal when Bella bounded up. She’s the kind that’s all ears and trouble; even her whispers have echoes. “Guess what?” she said, her tail an over-caffeinated metronome, “The Groom Room is having a sale on sparkly collars!”
Seriously? Sparkly collars? I’d rather roll in a mud puddle. I rejoined with my signature sass, “I’ll pass, Bella. If I wanted to blind my friends, I’d just ask my human to do his disappearing coin trick.”
We shared a laugh that seemed to bark at the sky. But soon, our conversation turned to real doggie dilemmas. Max sauntered over, the old retriever with eyes that held more stories than the library of Congress—if it was run by dogs, which, let’s face it, would be infinitely better.
Max says to me, “Liesey,” (that’s his nickname for me; don’t get any ideas), “You’re top dog around here, sure, but it’s a big world. What’s your plan?” Cue the dramatic soundtrack.
Coming of age, huh? Like I haven’t thought of that every time I dig a hole to nowhere.
By the time the conversation wrapped up, and the sun began to shrug off its daylight duties, I realized something. My place in the world isn’t just in Pawsburgh or Earth; it’s trotting alongside my human and his absurd illusionist endeavours, and in the hearts of my motley crew of canine cohorts.
I made my way back to my human, who was probably wondering where his best assistant had vanished to (oh, the irony). I’d retell my day’s adventure, well, the parts that didn’t involve belly rubs – some things are too sacred to share.
As I curled up on my bed, I understood that growing up isn’t about catching the biggest frisbee or eating the most chicken-topped hotcakes. It’s about leaping for whatever sends your tail a-wagging, and always, always coming home to those you love.
And with every wag of my tail, I understood I was exactly where I was meant to be.
The End.
