Sniffing Love on Malamute Mountain: A Canine Tale of Romance and Adventure in Pawsburgh: A Meili PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
Pawsburgh’s been wild! Became a hero of hearts, mainly my own, chasing after Lulu (the Poodle wonder) instead of my squeaky toy. Almost lost her to my snack obsession, but we’re set for a hike up Malamute Mountain. Could be love, or just love for treats! 🐾🐕🦺
Sniffs and woofs,
Meili (a.k.a Fatness Everpaw)
Whenever they say Pawsburgh is a fantasy, well they haven’t seen me, Meili, the golden-brown Pocket Bully with a spirit so vibrant you’d think I was made out of sparklers. Ah yes, welcome to my narrative – a delightful romp through the twists and bounces of canine courtship, with yours truly in the lead.
Okay, so rewind to this morning at Rottweiler Ridge, the sun was already gossiping with the hills, throwing light like it had the town’s juiciest secrets. There I was, in an out-of-breath tango with the zigzagitron–my favorite squeaky toy whose name is a creative secret between me and my charming self.
Cargo pants, yes cargo pants. They seem weird on my two-legged mom, but boy, do they carry a bounty! After our game, once she assumed I was all tuckered out (never!), her pockets became my brunch buffet. I gave my best boop on her knee with my nose. “Come on, let’s spill the dog food, we both know you went overboard on Barker’s Bakery!”
That’s when she appeared–Lulu, a divinely tall and slender Poodle, trotting out of Canine Couture Clothing with more bags than a pack mule. I tell ya, those eyes of hers sparkled like frisbees on a sunny day, and just the sight of her had butterflies in my belly doing loop-the-loops.
And so, as the inciter of romance that I am, I bounded over, ditching my toy like last year’s chewed-up tennis ball. A swift move from my playbook–sort of a “hello, here’s my heart on a gleaming silver platter… please don’t accidentally step on it.”
“H-hi, I’m Meili.” I managed a clumsy but endearing half-bow; the kind you can only pull off with a stout body and a head too large for high society.
Her musical laugh tinkled through the air. “I know who you are, Meili. Everyone in Pawsburgh does. You chase that squeaky toy like it’s the last train before daylight.”
Then–get this–fate took a swing at comedy. My mom’s unguarded plate, the clink of silverware, I turned swift as a cat. I can’t help it, guys! I love food more than belly rubs and I tore off like a rocket, Lulu’s giggling charms already a fading perfume. Well, you know what I mean.
Adventure! It’s in my bones, but as the initial feast frenzy wore off, I felt it. The pull. The one back to Blue Basenji Bay where I left Lulu. The same spot where I could’ve sworn she hinted a play-date at Malamute Mountain. Is it love or just the bacon bites talking? Who cares!
Excitement pattering through my paws, I returned to find her watching the glistening bay. I sidled up, curious and hopeful, twisting my most eloquent of eyebrow coifs.
“You came back.” Lulu’s voice was flirty, laced with a dare.
“Just following the scent,” I winked, “of potential great company…and maybe a whiff of Corgi’s Crepes.”
Lulu laughed, a sound that gave belly rubs to my ears. “How’d you feel about forgoing your usual romp at the park for a hike up Malamute Mountain with me? Think of the view, the thrills…”
“You had me at ‘with me’,” I admitted. The park would be jealous, but the mountain could be our little secret.
So off we went, paws against the path and tails syncing beats to some unheard tune. Who knew what awaited–a dash of delightful discomfort as two different canine souls danced through Pawsburgh in pursuit of something…more? Or maybe just the perfect snack to share. Whatever it was, or would be, I was ready, with my curiosity as a compass and her laughter as my north star.
The End.
