Lead Paws and File Frenzy: A Day in the Life of Spencerville’s Canine Corporate Warriors: A Sage PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
Guess what? I’m now Lead Play Coordinator at the Woof & Whisker Wellness Center, where I champion snuggles & fetch like a boss. Today we turned the dreaded vacuum fear into a victory at the Fetch Your File relay! I may not have seen our win, but I sure felt it in every tail wag. Office life is wacky, woofy, and I’m loving it. Cheese O’clock is my new happy hour. Give Scout an extra treat from me!
Hugs, Sage aka Princess 👑🐾
So there I was, sitting in what most would call a non-traditional office setting – the Woof and Whisker Wellness Center in Spencerville. I had just been promoted to Lead Play Coordinator, and trust me, it’s a big deal in an office where your colleagues’ primary concern is whether their next break is a belly rub or a tail chase.
You know how in human office sitcoms there’s always that one character who’s the life of the office party? Well, that’s me, Sage – minus the part where I actually *see* the party. What I lack in eyesight, I more than make up for in charm and a well-chewed ball-toting ability.
But let’s zoom into a particular Thursday, right after Cheese O’clock, which quite frankly is my favorite time of day. It’s like happy hour, but for dairy products. This day was extra special because we were documenting what I like to call ‘A Day in the Life of Spencerville’s Finest Movers and Shakers’. And by movers and shakers, I mean literal movers and shakers, including my siblings and my son Scout, the mini-heeler version of a corporate warrior.
I started the day at my desk, the hum of productive chewing filling the air. The Pupsicle Palace had just delivered a batch of bountiful bones, but just as I was about to dig in, I heard it – the ominous rumble of the dreaded vacuum. I froze, the bane of my existence was upon us. My co-workers, a usually tough bunch, scattered like leaves in the wind. Frodo dove behind the filing cabinet, Bindi squirmed under her desk, Bella gave a low growl that said “I’m too classy for this,” Basil unleashed his scholarly bark of disapproval, and Scout imitated me because, well, that’s what loyal apprentices do.
Nevertheless, I marshaled my courage, for I am Sage – Lead Play Coordinator, ball enthusiast, and unofficial morale booster. After the vacuum retreated, I led the charge to rebuild spirits, but then the memo came in: the annual Fetch Your File relay race was on.
At your traditional office, this involves paperwork and running, but at ours, it’s an Olympic-level fetch competition. There was just one hitch: our team was down a paw. Fear not, for I had trained for this moment my entire life, or at least since breakfast. I rallied the troops – Frodo with his big heart, Bindi with her fierce gaze, Bella with her nurturing spirit, wizened Basil, and my loyal son Scout.
The race was a whirlwind of fur and fun. There was a moment when I heard the squeak of my beloved well-chewed ball, and I knew, this was our moment. With precision that would impress even the most seasoned heeler, my team passed the ball (and the files) from one to the other, amidst cheers and barks.
I may not have seen our victory, but I felt it in every wagging tail and heard it in every victorious howl. We had won and the office erupted in celebration – a testament to our bond, determination, and the unbridled joy that is Spencerville’s essence.
In the end, as we settled back down with our treats and accolades, I thought about the joy of this human-like life. We missed our human families but took comfort in knowing we’d see them again. In the meantime, we had each other, and spoils of the office life – friendships, cheese, and endless games of fetch.
I curled up on my cozy bed, my well-chewed ball by my side, and knew that in Spencerville, every day was an adventure, every moment a memory, and every companion a story waiting to unfold.
The End.
