Surviving another day as Spencerville’s most fabulous post-apoc pooch! Sammy and I sniffed out adventure and breakfast, reminiscing about better days and staying paws-itive. Keeping our tails wagging and spirits high, despite the closed groomers and empty bookstores. We’re the new fur-heroes in town, bringing hope with every bark. Stay tuned for more tails of bravery!

Roxy Foo-Foo 🐾✨

I must say, the days in this post-apocalyptic Spencerville are far from the ordinary trot in the park. It’s me, Roxy, by the way – your four-legged guide through the remnants of what was once an idyllic haven for pets like us.

Today, in the land of the furry and the brave, I trotted into what we canines refer to as the Upper Collie Canyon. The place had seen better days, and now it was cloaked in a shadow of its former glory, a bit like my once shiny coat after a tumble in the mud.

Now, Sammy and I have developed a bit of a routine amidst the chaos, if you can believe it. We rise at the crack of dawn, or whatever time the sun decides to peer out from behind the ominous clouds. And while the others rest, our paws pad their way towards our own slice of paradise – or so we imagine it to be.

“Come on, Sammy!” I barked, that morning, with an excitement that could set a tail wagging for hours. “Adventure awaits, and so does breakfast!”

Oh, the scents of The Cat’s Meow Sushi drifted tantalizingly through the air – which is quite remarkable, given that no cat I know has ever managed to roll a sushi since the kibble hit the fan, so to speak. Nevertheless, we marched on, our sights set on a hearty breakfast of Pooched Potatoes or, if we were particularly lucky, a stack of Pawsome Pancakes. We had even made a game out of it, a zealous endeavor to scavenge whatever food was left in the Desolation of Doggy Delights.

The once bustling Groom Room lay in silence, a sight almost as sad as rain that halts my beloved forest romps. I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sorrow, recalling the times when the world wasn’t so ruffled, when a dog could get a decent trim and a splash of cologne without the looming threat of…well, whatever it was that turned our paradise into this peculiar place.

I glanced at Sammy. “Remember The Wagging Tail Bookstore?” He nodded, a somber gleam in his eyes. We’d spent many an hour in there, the humans reading to us about heroes and fantasy – tales that seem almost too relevant now.

Not that there isn’t enjoyment to be had in these curious times. I have my faithful chew bone, a relic of the Old World, and the thrill of the unknown we now face every day. Each corner turned could bring a delightful scavenger hunt or the pressing need for us to unleash our Rottweiler strength and Chow Chow mystique.

My mind wanders now and then to the parents we await. But I can’t wallow for too long. In this town, there are others who need a kind lick or a comforting nuzzle. That’s where I come in – the guardian, the friend, the dog with mystique and elegance even the post-apocalypse can’t diminish.

And so we march on, Sammy, and I, through Shepherd Skyline, our shadows long and heroic among the ruins. If ears could smile, mine would be grinning at the adventures to come, each step a story, every wag a word waiting to be written in the legend of Spencerville – a tale of tails in an apocalyptic world, where we walk on, bravely.
