“An uninterrupted run at Canine’s Cuisine, never again questioning who fetches the power in Pawsburg.”

His stubby tail hesitated mid-wag. “Deal.”

With words as brisk as a winter’s tailwind, I orchestrated Gigi’s freedom and re-cemented my position within our furry syndicate. Not through fear or tyranny, but respect and a generous supply of treats from Bulldog’s BBQ.

The town breathed easier that night, with Gigi snuggled safely in her bed and the newcomer nodding within the ranks.
