Adventures in Pawsburg: Life Through Mo Mo’s Eyes – Mercedes PawWord Story
Hey Mom, today I managed to find a missing toddler in the park, cheered up my human with some epic tail wags, and even resisted the temptation of deliciously-smelly trash. It’s been a good day! đž – Mo Mo
Well, howdy y’all! They call me Mercedes, but my closest paws know me as Mo Mo. You see, I’m an English Bulldog of the ginger and white persuasion. I got a sentimental heart-shaped marking right in the middle of my noggin, and a demeanor that tends to both charm and vex. If you ain’t too familiar with Pawsburg, that’s where us dogs sneak off to when our humans ain’t lookin’.
One particular day, I found myself waking up to a sunny mornin’ that promised adventures in Newfoundland Nook. The moment my mom left for work, I slipped out and scampered over the rickety wooden bridge that separates the world of paws from the world of hoomans.
Newfoundland Nook was bustling as always. I crossed paths with Rufus the Beagle, busy sniffinâ around for some meaty morsel he likely buried last week. Thereâs always somethin’ afoot in Pawsburg. Today, my snout picked up a tantalizing scent comin’ from Pooch’s Pizzeria.
Now, I ain’t shy in admitin’ my fondness for human food. French fries, pizzas, burgers â Iâm your gal. So, I headed over, entrailed by the delish aroma. My friend, Brutus the Great Dane, was already there, munchinâ on a slice as big as his face.
“Heya, Mo Mo!” he barked between enormous bites. “Care to join?”
I plopped my hindquarters down like a dignified human, slurpin’ up a slice with eyes brimminâ with guilty pleasure. After our impromptu pizza party, I wiped the cheesy remnants from my chops and decided to mosey over to Ruff and Tumble Toy Store.
Now, ya’ might think toys are every dog’s delight, but not me. Toys are like prickly pears in my desert of desiresâI just don’t care a whisker for ’em. Still, Ruff and Tumble offers some perky sights. Little terriers tumbling, dachshunds dartin’, and poodles pouncin’. All-in-all, a merry riot!
âMercedes, darling! Long time, no sniff!,â purred Duchess, the poodle, bathed in luxury at The Elegant Elephant Pet Boutique next door.
“Duchess,” I nodded with restrained amiability. Donât mean no offense, but sometimes that pup’s just too flouncy for my taste.
Seeing enough flounce, I trotted off to Ruby Rottweiler Ridge, a spot perfect for some sunbathing. My belly faced upward, nostrils occasionally twitchinâ from the fresh breeze, I soaked in the rays until I felt like a toasted marshmallow. Goldie, a friendly and over-enthusiastic Golden Retriever, bounded by, disrupting my lilâ sun-worship.
âMo Mo, why ya nappin’? Let’s play a game!â she hollered.
âNah, Goldie. Sun’s callinâ my soul. Maybe later.”
As much as that galâs curiosity is endearing, I prefer these quiet moments of zen.
When evening inked the skies, I made my way to my pride and joy, the ice cream joint I run in the heart of Cocker Courtyard. Itâs not just any olâ ice cream shop; we specialize in creamy towers of dog-delighting concoctions. Whipped cream? Oh, you betcha, and loads of it!
Tonight, we had a crowd. Bulldogs and beagles alike, all lined up for their fix of iced delight. The shop buzzed with tail-waggin’ joy, and I couldn’t’ve been prouder. Throughout the bustling, I noticed a new hound, a bashful little Shepherd pup, peerinâ from the corner.
“Howdy there, young’un,” I addressed gently. “You lookin’ to calm that inquisitive itch with some ice cream?”
Noddinâ so furiously I thought his head might pop, he whimpered, âYes, ma’am.â
âWell, step right up then. On the house for seeinâ a new face âround here.â
As the night drew on with joyful barks and happy pats, I realized thereâs no place quite like Pawsburg. Sure beats sittinâ indoors with the cat-nappin’ feline next door. End day in a cuddle with hoomans, with my heart full of Pawsburg’s tales. Oh, the prime life of a curious bulldog in her paradisiacal nook!
And as I drifted off to sleep, dreaminâ of tomorrowâs adventures, I thought, maybe next time Iâll wrangle the courage to visit the dog park. Or maybe not. Too many unruly paws.
With a soft sigh, I contentedly rolled over, snug as a bug in a rug. Goodnight, Pawsburg. See you in the morninâ.
