Yes, balancing a life in this nearly perfect slice of the afterlife wasn’t easy, but for a tough Pitbull like me, Star”lit” Night—affectionately known as Star—it was a walk in the park, or rather, the dog park.

Picture this: A sun-soaked, gray and white chick like me tucked into a charming little dune spot at Beagle Beach, shades on, sunbathing. Of course, I’m merely keeping a watchful eye on Sniff ‘n’ Snack’s latest parmesan-packed pizza shipment. I enjoy soaking my paws in the ocean’s frothy waves, plotting my next move for some serious ball-keepaway. You know, it’s like I always told Tex before he hitched a ride across the Rainbow Bridge, “Buddy, there’s no greater thrill than life’s little games, just garbed in sand and sea.”

Tex had learned from the best. We’d often strategized over a plate of sashimi at The Cat’s Meow Sushi, scheming how to execute the perfect car-ride distraction technique on our unsuspecting pals at The Pawsome Pet Pharmacy. Oh, those were the days. But here in Spencerville, it’s a new realm of play, cuddles, and capers.

Settling into my turf by The Canine Cafe, sniffling a fine cup of espresso-like kibble essence on a particularly calm Tuesday, I began contemplating the forthcoming Beach Ball Bash. Toss a frisbee with enough force, and you gain the respect of pups from the northern terrains of Canine Couture Clothing down to the southernmost bowls of Chow Down Chow Chow. All of this, while striving to uphold the dignity of being Mom’s favorite, which is no easy task in this brisk version of paradise.

Taco Bueno, my steadfast companion, checked in from Earth with the usual tail wag of affection—bless those earthly fidelities.
