puki PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
It’s Louie. This Old Town is my spaceship now. Yeah, no joke. You must probably think I’ve lost it, but Boomer and I took a ride into the wild yonder. Met with schnauzers on Pluto, pretty snobby. No Brussels sprouts, yay! But a wilderness of chicken things; that’s the life. Still, Spencerville’s home. Can’t wait to see you, mom.
Infinite Woofs n’ Whiskers,
Louie (aka Intergalactic Puki)
Ah, the energy radiating off the place stuns me. This isn’t Spencerville anymore, it’s a dream – a starship, no less! Permit me to start from the top. It was the ordinary Tuesday morn in the Yellow Tan Dalmatian Desert part of the town, when unexpectedly, a starship had crash-landed nearby. Did I mention starship? Yes, indeed, a real glistening starship, with kittens and canaries all flapping and fluttering about in the chaos!
“You fancy taking a peep into that glamorous, shiny metallic beast, Puki?” Boomer had barked with his usual languid drawl, his droopy eyes twinkling with excitement.
Well, how could I refuse? Together, we dared into this outlandish entity.
Brussels sprouts? Fancy that, none in sight, replaced by a variety of chicken-flavored dog treats everywhere. Plus, the metallic insides which resembled the innards of the Fetching Feline Pet Emporium had this ambrosial scent. An aroma so tantalising, it could make a Lhasa Apso soar amidst the stars without any wings.
Blooming around the Navigator’s console, my heart found itself beating like a runaway metronome implanted in an excited cocker spaniel. As if on cue, Boomer ambled over to the gigantic window that showed the vast, hypnotic space outside. “Look Puki, it’s the Retriever constellation!” Boomer woofed with a mouth full of dog treats.
And the adventures were just beginning. Saddling up in the Captain’s chair, I could not help but feel a poignant blend of loss and anticipation. I mean, I am a Lhasa Apso with a starship, not much to shriek about.
Wondrously we journeyed to infinity and beyond from the Western Husky Hill to the dungeons of Bow Wow Burgers. We even attempted negotiations with the (somewhat arrogant) schnauzers on Pluto, they turned us down, of course, with their fancy fur coats and high tail wags.
Ah, we discovered, exchanged stories, tasted heavenly chicken treats, and built roman numerals out of dry leaves. Space turned out to be breathtaking, but yeah, as every adventure has a punch line, ours was, ‘”There’s no place like Spencerville.”
Boomer, bless him, expressed best. “I agree Puki, space is pretty and all, but I’d rather we crash land in Blooper’s Park and run freely amidst those rust and auburn crunchy leaves again.”
Touche! Back to terra firma, brimming with stories. Besides the whole exploration venture, it proved that worldly or not, this little Lhasa Apso belongs to Spencerville, and that’s precisely where I’ll remain, waiting to reunite with my human mom, but while I’m here, golly! Adventure’s calling again. Another starship perhaps…
The End.
