“Pawsitively Paradise: A Spencerville Kind of Life” : A Cj PawWord Story
Hey Mom, it’s Bubbie aka CJ! Just living my best life here in Spencerville. I start by patrolling the backyard, then it’s breakfast at Bone Appetit, a stroll to Golden Gate Gardens, shopping at Pooch Playhouse, and finally peace at South Poodle Pond. Still avoiding baths and apples, but loving steak. It’s a dog’s life! Talk soon. Woof woof!
I woke up that morning, the same way I’ve been waking up for the last seventeen years – staring into those kind, unassuming eyes of my CJ. DJing a dog’s life isn’t easy, but let me tell you, it pays off in love.
CJ would start the day with a bit of adventure around his kingdom better known to everyone else around here as, our backyard. He’s the king after all, and kings do need to patrol their castles, but you should see him out there, striding purposefully around his little territory – his stubby legs rushing him here and there – brushing past the dew-kissed leaves, snout scuffling through the flower beds. Even the squirrels have come to revere and respect his highness, in his domain.
Next, we travel for the day’s first feast at The Bone Appetit. CJ is a regular, known as much for his scandalous appreciation for human grub as he is for his aversion to yogurt. Perhaps it’s the live jazz that plays softly in the ambiance, or maybe it’s Susan, who always saves him a seat by the window. Either way, breakfast rendezvous at The Bone Appetit have become something of a tradition for us.
Following breakfast, a leisurely stroll is nearly always in order, and CJ loves to trot down the lush, green lanes of Golden Gate Gardens. Here he can roll and somersault in the grass to his heart’s content, prancing around after the colourful fluttering butterflies that seem to share his vibrant spirit.
No trip to the gardens is complete without a little shopping, and so, we always swing by The Pooch Playhouse, where I select a new addition to CJ’s horde of stuffed ‘babies.’ He guards them fiercely, akin to a dragon protecting his gold. I can’t help but indulge him, it’s a sort of reminder of the child that he still is, despite his mature demeanor.
After a busy day out, CJ likes to take me to South Poodle Pond. The pond is a lot quieter than the hustle and bustle of downtown Spencerville, and CJ loves the peace and tranquility there. It’s our sanctum, away from everything else – our sanctuary.
“It’s just another day,” we hum to ourselves as we walk back home through our well-worn path, “in our Spencerville, just another day in our paradise.”
And it is indeed paradise. It’s a life full of quirks and rules, of adventure and tranquility. Our world is filled with oddities like the stubborn defiance of a bath, the refusal to eat a simple fruit like apple, and a cheeky fondness for a good old chunk of beef steak.
But, through it all, there’s one thing that remains the same, the love in those big, round eyes of my CJ. So, we march on in Spencerville, in our little paradise, living out our days in an almost perfect world where we have each other and that’s all we need. It’s a Spencerville kind of life – and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The End.
