“Carrots and Courage: The Unanticipated Adventures of Dory in Pawsburg” : A Dory PawWord Story
Hey hooman, it’s Dory here! I’ve been roaming Pawsburg, ate some fantastic chicken (carrot snuck in, yuck!), hung out with Luna in the gardens, and really shook my tail at Shepherd Skyline by staring down a thunderstorm! Who knew I was such a brave doggo? Lessons learned and fears faced, a day to remember. Your little Dory ain’t so little anymore! Also, no more carrots, capice? Love, Petite Pawsader. 🐾
Oh, what a fine deep ungodly hour it was when Dory and I decided to embark on what now would generously qualify as one of the least thought-through adventures of Pawsburg history. It was a rather quiet morning in the human world, not too cold, not too hot. Perfect for an unanticipated quest, or for us dogs (if we feel like it), another hour of luxurious nap. Then again, Dory was known to pounce on these inconspicuous moments to churn out the most daredevil escapades.
Dory led our way through the silent, mystical streets of Pawsburg. Reaching the Shih Tzu Stadium first, we ran into Rocky, her Retriever confidant. Exchanging pleasantries informed mainly by a series of enthusiastic tail-wagging and some impulsive barking, we decided to carry on our way with Rocky joining our uncanny pack.
Our next stop constituted a trip to the Bark ‘n’ Roll. Now, mind you, Dory is a petite, delicate creature but surely not when it comes to her culinary adventures. The lean chicken at the eatery made her eyes pop and she savoured every bite with an almost ostentatious joy. Yet caution be damned when the chef thought he’d slip in a bit of carrot with the meal. “Who does he think we are, rabbits?” she retorted, in that Dory-ish way.
On the off chance you found yourself at the Lower Golden Gate Gardens, you’d usually find Dory lazing with her feline friend Luna, basking in the sheer bliss of doing absolutely nothing. This time, however, the atmosphere was electric. You’d think Dory filled her tanks up on purpose at the Bark ‘n’ Roll!
While no one, including us, expected Dory to boss this day, there it was – a day so equally bizarre and remarkable, just like her.
The climax, almost ceremoniously, happened at Shepherd Skyline, where the glistening sky opened up revealing a sky-filled march of undecided weather – a thunderstorm. This was Dory’s nemesis. A nemesis she wanted to confront. The thunder roared, and there she was standing, no longer trembling, facing her fear in the eye. A petite Shitzu standing against a fearsome storm. It was like the universe conspired to give us the most climactic showdown. To my surprise, and likely the universe’s, Dory held her own.
That’s where Dory came of age. She learnt to steer her fears, prove her mettle to, no one but herself, and more importantly, how to navigate the eccentric world of Pawsburg. All at once, our little Dory wasn’t so little anymore. An adventure indeed, with Dory leading us to confront our fears and discover the remarkable courage within. Not every hero wears a cape. Some wield a quite disdainful expression at the sight of carrots.
The End.
