Ah, another day in the upside-down world of Pawsburg, where us four-legged furballs ruled and the humans were none the wiser. The sun had set, and my owners, the oh-so-gentle Jenkins couple were tucked in, lost in a world away from Alpine Meadows.

Shaking off the last remnants of sleep, I ventured into Pawsburg, our secret haven. My stubby corgi legs cloaked in my shining red-gold coat, I scurried off to my first adventure: Silver Siberian Summit. An amusing place considering I’d never really met a wild Siberian, but the thrill of conquering those mini-mountainous slopes was unrivalled.

Next came Pawsome Pancakes for a breakfast befitting the lord of the doggy underworld. Looking around, one could see a husky haggling over hams, a bulldog brooding at the bar, a labrador laughing at the limerick lovingly put up by the management. All regular scenes in Pawsburg and all part of our carefully hidden world.

However, the empire I headed was not just about fun and food, it was about keeping peace, ensuring equal distribution of savory bones from K9 Kebabs, and no monopoly over squeaky toys of The Fetching Feline Pet Emporium. This was my calling. No not, Poggers the pet, but Poggers, the Petfather.

My first meeting of the day was with Tommy, the Terrier with a terrible temper, furious about the Groom Room’s new no-terrier policy. His snarls did little to ruffle me. A bit of persuasive growl and promise of extra marrow bones from K9 Kebabs, and our dear Tommy was placated.

Next stop, South Poodle Pond, here I met Dapper Dan, a Doberman with a penchant for foul play. His lame excuses, though, stood little chance against my innate Corgi intelligence. I offered him an olive branch, or in our case, the promise of extra hours at the Doggie Daycare. He left, his tail wagging in surrender.

Retreating from the high-stakes world of power and negotiations, I sought solace at South Siberian Summit. Here, an old rival waited, my unlikely friend, Jerry. We set aside our grand titles and just let loose, chasing each other, wrestling amidst the fur and soil in a spirited play of old friends.

Evenings meant dinner at Bow Wow Bistro, alongside an audience of assorted canines. Tonight, it was chicken drumsticks, the gravy-soaked delicacies holding my undivided attention while the rest of the empire kept their respectful distance.

When the moon reached its zenith, our secret world folded itself back into normalcy. A final frolic at the park with Jerry and then it was time to return to the quiet suburb of Alpine Meadows, back into the role of Poggers, the sprightly Corgi of Mr and Mrs Jenkins.

Ah, the dual life I led: a day pet, night Petfather, yet never a dull moment, never a regret. Pawsburg was our Utopia, our world within a world, a testament to the unrivalled spirit of us pets.
