Pawsburg Chronicles: Clifford and the Lost Elf Mojo: A Clifford PawWord Story
Hey pal, Clifford the Adventure Corgi here! Just led an elf named Jingles from snoozeville to joy central. Found his fam by the big tree! Xmas magic’s real, tails don’t lie. See ya at the park? 🎄🐾 – Cliff
Oh, hey there! It’s me, Clifford. You know, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi with the zest for adventure and the tail that just won’t quit? Well, buckle up, buttercup, because I’ve got a tale that’ll knock your socks off (and I’d know – I’ve got a taste for socks).
So there I was, lounging on my sun-soaked balcony, savoring the scrumptious aroma of Ellie’s freshly-baked croissants (like, really fresh, not just ‘said to be fresh’ on a sign), when the most unexpected visitor popped up. No, not the mailman. I actually get along with that guy! It was an elf. Yup, you heard me, an elf!
He looked about as out of place in Main Street as a cat in a dog conga line. This elf – jingle bells on his shoes and all – plopped down next to me. “Jingles is the name,” he said, “and I’m in a bit of a candy-cane-shaped pickle.”
Turns out, Jingles had lost his Christmas spirit and, by extension, his ability to find his way back home to the North Pole. And his family? Forget about it, like completely MIA in a big city during Christmas rush.
Now, I may not have a compass or a GPS stuck to my collar, but I do have a nose for adventure and a heart the size of a Great Dane named Duke (that’s my buddy from the dog park, real stand-up guy). So, naturally, I volunteered to help.
Our first stop was The Pampered Pooch Salon in Pawsburg. If anything can lift your spirits, it’s a good pampering. But when the spritz of ‘Winter Wonderland’ cologne hit, Jingles nearly passed out. “Too strong, too strong!” he gasped. I shrugged. I mean, who knew elves had such delicate noses?
Next up, Barker’s Bakery. I thought maybe the scent of Gingerbread Doghnuts would do the trick. But nope, Jingles just stared longingly at my well-loved blue ball, which had rolled out of my stash of favorite things. “Back home, we’d play ‘Find the Snowflake’ with the kids,” he sighed, looking sadder than a hound dog in the rain.
Lightbulb moment! “Let’s hit up Jade Jack Russell Junction,” I suggested. The jolt of playful energy there could jumpstart a bulldozer that’s been stuck in the mud for a week.
In the heart of the Junction, surrounded by a posse of perky pups, Jingles discovered a spark of joy. But it wasn’t until I nudged my cherished blue ball towards him for a game of fetch that his eyes really lit up. As he threw the ball and watched me scuttle after it with my signature corgi waddle, his laughter echoed through the streets. Let me tell you, a laughing elf is like the best sound ever, like bacon sizzling on Sunday morning.
After our game, with spirits high, we sat noshing on slices from Pawprint Pizzeria (I steered clear of the citrusy “Limone Surprise” – bleh!). That’s when Jingles remembered. “The family photo!” he exclaimed, pulling out a slightly crumpled snapshot from his pocket. “We always take one by Rockefeller Center’s Christmas tree!”
I knew then what we had to do. It was time to depart Pawsburg for the big city lights.
We raced through the streets, Jingles clinging to my bushy, wagging tail. And there it was, the tree, twinkling like Ellie’s eyes when she pulls out a perfect loaf. The elf family reunion? Better than a bird serenade on a sunny day. And the joy? Oh, it came back tenfold, like a boomerang made of pure Christmas magic.
As I watched Jingles hug his kin, I realized that Pawsburg wasn’t just a place for our kind to scamper and play. It was a starting point for the grandest adventures, even for an elf and his corgi friend. So yeah, call me Clifford: dog extraordinaire, Santa’s little helper, and, I gotta say, one heck of a matchmaker for an elf and his lost mojo.
The End.
