Honestly, the moment I saw that invitation to Pippa Poodle’s so-called “Pawfect Party” at Ruby Rottweiler Ridge, I knew things would unravel faster than a Husky sheds in summer. But you know me; if there’s a fiesta, Teddy’s gotta be there.

My morning started with a much-needed primp at The Groom Room because, let’s face it, you can’t spell ‘poodle-mix’ without ‘impeccable grooming.’ However, my fur decided today was the day it wanted to embody a rebellious teen. A touch of reddish fluff decided to stick out like a sore tail, no matter how much doggy gel they used.

Already feeling like the protagonist in a doggy disaster movie, I thought a quick visit to Woof and Whisker Wellness Center before the bash would solve my fur fiasco. It did not. Instead, I somehow ended up in a yoga class for pugs. And before you ask, downward dog poses are not my forte, and we all found out the hard way.

Limping out of there like a dog who’s lost his last bone, I strolled down Sapphire Schnauzer Street, hoping for some normalcy. But let’s be real, I’m Teddy, and normal was last seen chasing its tail.

Retriever’s Restaurant aired the smell of grilled chicken, and heck, I’m not one to pass on my chicken chasing dreams. So I sashayed in, demanded – in the politest bark, naturally – the chicken special. And… they gave me broccoli. BROCCOLI! As if I’m some kind of vegan werewolf. The betrayal stung deeper than being denied a belly rub.

Next up was Paw Pad Thai, which was on the way. I just wanted a quick bite, not the comedy show that ensued when they mistook my order for a carnivorous feast fit for a pack of Great Danes instead of one singular, fabulous me.

“Sorry, sir? They’re out of chicken,” the waitress said, fear in her eyes, knowing my penchant for poultry.

With my tummy empty but my determination full, I finally reached Ruby Rottweiler Ridge. I saw Best in Show Photography had set up a photo booth, and honestly, with my fur being this unruly, how could I resist documenting it?

“Smile,” they said. And when I did, the flash blinded me enough that I bumped into a tripod which sent another camera crashing into a drink table and voila – Candid Camera, Pawsburg edition.

Emerging from the chaos, with perhaps a slightly bruised ego (and tail), I found Pippa Poodle staring at me with horror. “Teddy, you’re supposed to be co-hosting, not co-destroying.”

And that, my friends, is when I remembered. The party wasn’t just a party; it was a fundraiser. For what? I can’t recall; I was probably dreaming of chicken when they mentioned it.

So there I was, with my patchwork fur and disaster in my wake, managing to bring raucous laughter to what could’ve been a snooty event – because a little chaos can be quite the tail-wagger, don’t you think?

As I wagged my way home, I figured, hey, at least Pawsburg now had a new legend – ‘Teddy, the party pup who turned a posh party into a howling comedy.’ I mean, if we can’t laugh at our misadventures, we might as well be cats, right?
