Fur-ocious Adventures in Pawsburg: The Upside Bark Crisis!: A Trixie PawWord Story
Hey Mom!
Just saved Pawsburg from certain doom last night. Portals from the Upside Bark started messing with our town, so I had to step up. With help from Rycker, Eggnog, and some lavender oil, we closed the portals and restored order. I’m basically a four-legged superhero now—move over, Lassie!
Love, Trixie
Okay, folks, hold onto your chew toys because I’ve got a tail-wagging tale that you just won’t believe. It all started last Wednesday night—well, technically morning because it was 3 AM—when my human Mom was snoring away like a lazy bear in hibernation. As the magical laws of Pawsburg would have it, when she drifted into her dreams, I hightailed it out the doggy door and into the twinkling night sky that led me straight to our fantastical town.
I took a scenic detour to Briard Bridge, sniffed around, and sent a “hello” yip to my brother Rycker before high-tailing it over to Pointer Pier. From the moment I pawed my way into the center of Pawsburg, something felt… off. The usually cheerful lobstering of Canine’s Cuisine was eerily silent, and the path I often sunbathe on at Emerald Eskimo Estuary had an unsettling chill. I shrugged it off, attributing it to a pesky human delivery person vibe and sped off to meet Eggnog and my Aussie pals at The Furry Friends Art Gallery.
Just as MoonPie the fluffy Cocker Spaniel—who runs the gallery, by the way—was explaining the nuances of an abstract bone-shaped sculpture, the town’s official Clock Tower barked three times. That’s the code for—but you’ll never guess this—a Doggone Disaster! Go ahead, fetch your disbelief off the floor.
We bolted through the street, paws flailing, only stopping once at Golden Grub for a morale-boosting cheese stick. When we got to the town square, all eyes were on the mystical Mutt that stood perched atop the fountain. The Mutt’s fur shimmered in a spectrum of colors, unlike any dog I’ve ever seen. He proclaimed in a voice deeper than my disgust for the vet: “The balance of Pawsburg is at risk. Portals from the Upside Bark are breaching our world.”
“Well, ain’t that a biscuit in a basket,” Rycker muttered, eyes widening. We all knew about the Upside Bark—a shadowy realm where rain perpetually falls and vacuum noises constantly buzz. An absolute nightmare for any respectable mutt!
Meanwhile, Eggnog’s tiny legs had scrambled up beside me, his eyes darting, “What’s the plan, Trixie?”
Channeling my inner Tina Fey, I quipped, “First thing’s first, nobody panic! If we can handle Aunt Barbie’s Aussies, we can handle interdimensional chaos.”
We made our way to Woof and Whisker Wellness Center because if there was any place with the right essential oils and healing crystals to combat supernatural forces, it was there. Luna, my feline housemate with an affinity for witchcraft, had graced me with some impromptu lessons on how to close portals. Apparently, a blend of lavender essential oil and the right incantations would do the trick.
After gathering our supplies—and devouring a few calming chews on the way—we reached the nearest portal. It was surrounded by a vortex of swirling leaves, bones, and oddly enough, one of Miss Prissy’s missing chew toys. Instinctively, I started the spell.
“By the power of warmth and snuggles, and all that’s soft and cozy… portal be gone, plu-ease!” Lavender oil was applied, Rycker howled his deepest baritone, and I whimpered the final words because, goodness, I’m dramatic.
Light burst forth, and the portal began to close. We partied, tails wagging and fetch sticks flying. The balance of Pawsburg was restored, and every doggo on the street yipped in celebration.
By the time the sun poked its curious nose over the horizon, eggnog, Rycker, and I were back at our earthly homes, ready to nap through the impending vet appointment and another dreaded vacuum attack.
And so, another chapter closed in the magical, mystifying life in Pawsburg. Can’t say I wouldn’t trade the dramatics for a nice nap in a warm blanket, but hey, it’s all in a day’s work for a loyal, energetic chihuahua with a flair for the supernatural.
The End.
