“Returning Light: Tales from the Starship Spencerville” – Jasmine PawWord Story
Hey Mom and Dad,
Just wrapped up another thrilling mission on the Starship Spencerville! Retrieved the stolen Lambchop toys from some sneaky cat pirates with the help of my trusty crew. It’s good to be back and making new memories here. Missing you both always.
Love, Jasmine

As the transporter beam hummed around me, I, Jasmine the pug, materialized into the familiar cozy glow of the Starship Spencerville. My new paws navigated the sleek pathways of the spaceship seamlessly, the gentle hum of the starship’s engines sounding like a lullaby.
I sauntered down the corridor, so different yet strikingly familiar. “It’s good to be back,” I thought, glancing down at my reflection in the glistening floor. My appraisal revealed the same soft specks of gray around my eyes and muzzle, the token white half-heart on my chest still as pronounced as ever. Ah, and the gray flecks on my legs reminded me of ages gone by. Time might as well stand still in Spencerville; it wasn’t like time had any meaning here.
I turned a corner and saw a door labeled “Golden Gate Gardens.” Just in time! The other pugs—Pahoehoe, Dotty, and Percy—were already waiting for me, sporting identical expressions of joy and excitement. Next to them stood Panda, our gentle giant of a bullmastiff, his calm demeanor reassuring as ever.
“Ah, Captain Jasmine! Just in time for our latest mission!” Pahoehoe announced with a wag of her tail. “Retrieve the stolen Lambchop toys from the nefarious clutches of the cat pirates!”
“The universal balance relies on our success,” Percy added dramatically, although he couldn’t hold back a playful grin.
“Indeed,” I replied, always up for an adventure. “Engage!”
Our starship had everything a loyal crew could need. For logging our adventures, I frequented the Pup-Cakes café, where I could lounge with friends over salmon treats after a successful mission. If I felt particularly brave, I’d even sneak a French fry or two. But let me make one thing clear: pineapple and blueberries were strictly verboten.
We dashed to the Retrieval Shuttle, a sleek sidekick spacecraft docked within the Spencerville. This craft was perfect for planetary landings and, of course, particularly well-suited for dog-park missions. Our goal today was the planet R2D2C3PO, rumored to be the hideout of the miscreant cat pirates. My loyal R2D2 and C3PO bath toys could finally get the rescue caper they deserved!
As I piloted the craft to our destination, we slipped into warp speed. Panda, acting as our communications officer, barked out map coordinates with precision, and soon we found ourselves landing on the planet’s rocky surface.
The planet was a peculiar mix of rustic dog parks and curious yards, spirited with the unknown aromas only an alien world could offer. Following trails of catnip and mischief, we reached the lair of the cat pirates, who were expecting an easy victory with their stolen Lambchop toys. They clearly underestimated the prowess of a well-coordinated pug squad and their larger-than-life companion.
With the grace and confidence of a seasoned starship captain, I led the charge. We maneuvered through the labyrinth, avoiding the pool of doom that our feline adversaries had, unfortunately for them, placed too near. (Note to all: things involving water are generally better avoided).
Our mission concluded in swift triumph—Lambchop toys retrieved and cat pirates suitably meowed-off. We returned to the Retrieval Shuttle with the hearty satisfaction of a job well done. Our return voyage to the Starship Spencerville had us elated and eager to celebrate. This called for a rendezvous at Pupperoni Pizza and a round of Pup-Tizers.
Golden Gate Gardens, gently glowing with the hues of evening, welcomed us back. Ashely and Ell Gee were there, sharing in the warmth of our victory. In this nearly perfect place, surrounded by friends and familial love, we plotted our next grand adventure under the twinkling stars.
And as I lay next to my trusty R2D2 and C3PO toys, I knew one day I’d be reunited with my mom-and-dad. Until then, the Starship Spencerville had countless stars to explore, secrets to uncover, and memories to make. In each mission, I found another piece of home.
