test dog PawWord Story
Hey Dad, u won’t believe it! Spencerville’s paw-some now. Explored with Max & Luna, chowed down at The Barkery, & helped rebuild Pooch Playhouse, now Furrytopia. Miss u, but we’re surviving & I know we’ll meet again. Stay pawsitive! 🐾- Your Adventurous Fido
Listen to the story here.
Heck, if the apocalypse didn’t have one silver lining, it was that Spencerville had turned into the most paw-tastic place for us furry friends. As a self-aware dsf (yeah, don’t ask), I’ve always been up for daring escapades – I mean, who isn’t interested in exploring the post-apocalyptic version of East Bulldog Bay, right?
Just the other day, Max – that oh-so-witty Labrador Retriever – Luna, the gentlest Great Dane you’d ever meet, and I decided to venture out to South Poodle Pond. The whole journey was a doggone hoot, as we chuckled at each other’s expressions while trying to make it through an obstacle course of fallen trees and abandoned vehicles – all with my trusty stuffed squirrel by my side.
Luna, sweet as she is, offered, “Hey, it’s getting late, do you want to eat at The Barkery tonight? Their prices are always reasonable… well, considering the apocalypse and all.”
Max, wagging his tail with delight, replied, “I’m starving! Count me in!”
Being the more resourceful one of the bunch, I pitched in with my two cents. “I’m fine with The Barkery, but can we all agree to avoid the brussels sprouts? I just can’t stand them.” They nodded in quick agreement, and off we went.
In true post-apocalyptic fashion, the atmosphere at The Barkery was incredible. There was even a group of pups belting out sixties tunes at the corner of the restaurant. We dove into our dinner, which mostly consisted of classic Spencerville dishes with a few survivor-inspired twists like the “Apocalyptic Chicken Deluxe.” I did indulge in the succulent roast chicken, after all, who could resist?
The following day, we stumbled across Upper Collie Canyon, where we met a group of dogs on a mission to rebuild Pooch Playhouse into a survivor’s paradise. They called themselves “The Furry Rebuilders,” led by my own siblings, Barkley and Roxy. Never one to shy away from lending a helping paw, we decided to join their initiative.
We labored side by side, gathering materials and sharing ideas, while I occasionally got playful with my stuffed squirrel (troublemaker me, remember?). At the end of the day, we marveled at our progress as the collapsed Pooch Playhouse transformed into ‘Furrytopia,’ a haven for all pets to enjoy.
As we wagged our tails and celebrated our hard work, I glanced over at Max and Luna, grateful for the family and friends I had in Spencerville. And even though I missed my human dad, I knew, deep down, that he’d be proud of what we were doing here. After all, we were surviving and rebuilding, just like the rest of humanity, and I knew in my heart that we’d be reunited someday.
But for now, embracing this eccentric, post-apocalyptic life is what keeps me going. Roaming through this beautiful world and helping out others – all with a sense of humor inspired by Mindy Kaling – is the best way to live. And if you ever find yourself near East Bulldog Bay or Pup-Tastic Pizza, don’t hesitate to come by and say hello. You might just find the adventure of a lifetime.
The End.
